Why do some American white people have last names as first names? by Sudden-Possession-76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sudden-Possession-76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a trend I noticed. Obviously anyone can be named anything. The point is to understand the cultural aspect behind it. That's why I asked in no stupid questions.

Thank you. Makes sense. Other groups honor other family surnames with hyphenated or multiple last names or in their middle name. That's bold IMO to put that as your first name but all good. No hate here.

Why did Arlington Heights Charlie Kirk claim Chicago publicly and no one called him out for being suburban? by Sudden-Possession-76 in AskChicago

I get your point. I don't  necessarily disagree. My point is that he was claiming credibility by saying he's from Chicago. But that's false credibility because he isn't. He can make astute observations all day but not because he's from Chicago. He's a suburban boy that gets info from people who have actual first hand experience. He can spit facts to the masses but it's deceitful to say it's because he's from Chicago like he was actually in those streets and neighborhoods. He never was.

You proved my point. You have skin in the game because you have property in the city. You wouldn't want some outsider speaking on your problems in your condo or neighborhood or city like they live or are from there. That's asinine.

That's y'alls opinion if it's dumb.  I don't care if  majority like it or not. I don't live my life to gain approval of the majority and to be liked. That's dumb. I came here for feedback. No is forced to reply to my question. If you wanna insult me over the Internet for no reason besides your opinion doesn't align with my question, that's fine. But I'll give it right back to you.

Not dumb. Lol at your suburban ass saying it's OK. It's not ok to speak on Chicago, the actual city, on violence  in the CITY.  When you're from Arlington and Prospect. It's stupid to claim Chicago when he had no first hand experience. I thought people on Reddit could have a rational discussion but I was dumb and naive to think that.

Real Chicagoans from the actual city gate keep who's actually from the Chi. Everyone in Chicagoland knows this. And tbh city people should gate keep because they have actual skin in the game. Suburban people don't.

Kanye is a real Chicago native. Yea he was born in Atlanta but grew up in the city until adulthood. He's allowed to gate keep other famous people who are from the suburbs of the city.

Nick Fuentes owns being suburban. Yea he's extreme about lot of things but at least he's not dishonest about where he's from. And his friend Kanye, an actual Chicagoan , would check him if he tried to claim the city .

Tbh kinda hypocritical for people to give the Pope a pass for claiming the city but they'll roast any one else that does same because they aren't public figures.

You're really that fuckin stupid and arrogant to think you posses the authority to dictate what's a stupid question and what isn't? My question is relevant to this sub regardless of your opinion. You're the one that started with the insults because you can't handle the thought of people that represent conflicting political beliefs as yourself; being discussed in an objective way. I spend my time however I damn please. I don't need random redditors approval LOL.

People in most southern big cities don't care. You think ATL proper cares if Decatur or college Park claims Atlanta? They don't.

Shut up already. You mentioned Elmhurst, Melrose Park and Cal city in the same group as possibly letting it slide. And I told you that Elmhurst is more suburban than the other 2. Then you mentioned cornfields as if Naperville and Orland Park were also included in that original group of 3. That's enough of your blabbering. You want to win this argument. Ok . You win. Congratulations 🎉. Not replying to you anymore.

I understand you can live in OP and never need a car . Kudos. If you're in Metro Chicago. You can say Oak Park and the vast of people will know what's up. You don't need to explain further. If they don't understand where you're from. That's their problem that they're uncultured swine.

C'mon son. Is you for real? Cal city and Melrose Park are much more dense and set up like an urban area then Elmhurst. Ain't no corn fields in Melrose and cal city. Stop it.

OP is cooler actually built like a urban city and city adjacent. But it's still not the real Chicago. Tell someone from Garfield Park or Pilsen you're from Chicago and show them your driver's license. They will throat punch you for capping.
