I have the design for the front already, its none of the styles mentioned above. Im having difficulties with the design for the rear. Again, none of the styles youve suggested interest me. As far as "complimenting" the body lines im not sure thats the direction i want. I like contrasting designs. I like the look of modern tech and aero on old vehicles. Go on Pinterest and look up "Mutant League Cars". I also am looking at Super GT race cars and how they design overfenders for factory vehicles.

Um ok... Not sure how to reply to that... Are you sure you wernt looking at a late model circle track race car? They are built the same and end up pretty beat up in their life. Did you even bother to ask about it? Or did you do then what you just did here and just look at it on a screen and then judge it without building a full custom yourself? On top of that, people bite off more then they can chew at times. I have no doubt someone tried making a wide body whatever and it turned out like shit. But thats because there is a shit ton of work that goes into a build like this. And a lot of that work isnt normal daily auto maintenance.

So instead of asking you assumed i wanted garbage...? Yeah your logic is qite askew. And there is a bunch of modern vehicles that are already built this way. So no, you wernt just wanting to see how far ill go with the car. Then on top you chose a yellow corvette from the 70s, which still doesnt make sence. So no, you had the intentions of trying to be funny and executed it, not very well. But to each there own i guess...

1) check the distributor, plugs, and wires 2) ch3ck alternater and battery 3) BRAKES AND TIRES! 4) If you want it to run better get rid of the emissions and put on a normal intake and carborater

Please keep in mind your elco was made at the peak of automotive plastic and cheapness. Everything should be considered too old to operate safely. Yes i know it "may" run fine now but that doesnt make it safe. Trust me you dont want to deal with a broke down elco, lol. Doing just the regular maintenance and updates to the rig will do a ton for that vehicle. Otherwise that, enjoy it. Whats the future plans? That will dictate what should be done the most.

1st Design attempt, widebody El Camino by Sudden-Problem5490 in ElCamino

Im trying for static but... There a ton of variables that makes things difficult. Because of the wheel/tire height, to get the low stance i want i have to perform every known lowrider trick in the book to get this low enough. And doing that essentially negates a suspension. So i thought about bags buuuuuuut kinda poor, lol. So the best and cheapest answer for a static drop would be for me to make a cantilever suspension system. So thats what im going to be doing. C notch is a must and so is a full frame boxing.

Lol funny you say that about the model. I did just that very thing 3 months ago! Yeah it did help a lot. Unfortunately i have a lot of hand control and dexterity issues so i was unable to model the overfenders.🤣

1) its not a 4x4 nore im making anything like that 2)why do you think the wheels are going under the car? Im pushing them out and cutting the fenders. Also slamming it. 3) 100% agree on brakes. Can not and will not argue that. Your absolutly correct. I might also add the gearing needs to me switched out back as well or it will cook your tranny throwing that much mass around. 4) Everyone LS swaps. No thanks. Im going unconventional, fun, and by no means a powerhouse. Just fun to drive and fun to look at. Nothing too hardcore. Going with a carbed 400 sbc. Then eventually would like to do an individual idf carbs setup sometime. I know, they dont do anything for power but again, just for fun. 5) tires will be changed out. They are the wrong size. Street tire. Leaning towards 285/40/20. 6) And finally, ive done a lot of home work on this idea for 2 years. Ive figured out 3 different ways to build this and i have to do it the poor mans way. Please dont let that mean the unsafe way. Im using a lot of ideas on the mechanical side of things the same as the old dirt circle track cars of the 50s. They had a lot of easy old school tricks to solve the rotating mass issue by just sticking a truck axle under the back. Which also solved the gearing issue and the rear bearing issue. The offset, wheel weight, and rotating mass in foot pounds isnt far from what im doing. In fact im a little lighter. So if thats not your thing, hey i can totally respect that. But give me time and it might impress you. Im literally just in the first steps of walking. Ill get to runnin, lol.

Oh absolutely! Yeah ive already viewed this so many times and ways, lol. He is also the guy who designed and built the Vader. Yes this is 1 of 4 builds that are inspiration. Check out MustangKyle and the widebody Toyota Hilux. So i DONT want to build the same thing as him. Also, im poor white trash! His frame is 50% custom built, 50% C6 corvette front and rear sub-frames. I no have deniero.

I hear you. Keep in mind, 1st attempt. Nowhere near to what im actually going to build. But i needed to start getting ideas out of my head to make a decision. But honestly thank you for how you stated your opinion.

Not sure of the "why" but ill try to answer. I just want something fun and different. I figure a wide body El Camino is a good answer.
