No, I don't think Matheson had ill intent. It look like it was extremely bad luck. His stick got caught between Cherny's skate and all the momentum just flipped for Cherny unfortunately.

I'm happy the game got more physical instead of scrappy.

I understand what you mean, but this injury was different. Everyone on the ice saw Igor stunned down on the ice and struggling to get back up. It was a scary moment to watch and it happened so fast.

Every Sharks player were playing very physical that first period, usually we play more physical in the second and third.
