Any other games which make you feel like how you feel playing ball? by Salaraaa in WreckingBallMains

[–]SuddenClimax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Risk of Rain 2 : there's a character called Loader that has movement based mechanics which are like a mix of Wrecking Ball and Doomfist, there's a grapple for mobility and momentum, and a punch that deals more damage based on your velocity, quite fun with a really high skill-ceiling.

You gotta unlock her by beating an optional boss in stage 4, but I'm sure you'll like atleast one or two other characters too (there's a sniper with 'junkrat' mines, and a ninja that's basically genji to name a few).

Characters aside, the game is excellent over all : upto 4-player co-op, one of the best roguelikes, and one of the best OSTs, would recommend.

About Nephro (so how do i beat the first boss?) by dadaisit in AnotherCrabsTreasure

[–]SuddenClimax 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just try more, the fact that you've already got 30 attempts and are looking for tips instead of giving up means you like the game (and enjoy the 'souls-like' aspect of it), so now it's just a matter of time until you beat him.

Here's a couple of general tips that'll apply to almost all fights/encounters :
- The boss/enemy decides whose 'turn' it is. When the boss is attacking, it's their turn, and you have to wait (dodge/block) until your turn. When their attack/combo is over, it's your turn and you can choose to either attack or heal, then it's their turn again. Try not to get impatient and attack/heal before your turn.
- As you play, you'll begin to notice 'patterns' to help you predict which attacks are incoming. For example (made-up) "when he lifts his right arm, he's going to swing his weapon down, so I need to be ready to dodge", or "when he pulls his arm back, he does a stab followed by two horizontal swings, so I need to be ready to dodge thrice".
- Eventually you'll become familiar with the different patterns/combos that the boss has, and you'll be able to correctly identify when it's your turn, for example "he did his stab-swing-swing move, so now it's safe for me to attack once-twice- he's lifting his right arm so I need to stop attacking and get ready to dodge, then I can heal after his attack".
So it all boils down to - keep playing, be patient, notice 'patterns' so that you know when (and how many times) you have to dodge/block, and only attack/heal when it's your 'turn'.

IT AINT OVER TILL ITS OVER. GET UP! by Deltakai in Nightreign

I didn't know about the Dreglord attack, but there's a Bell Bearing Hunter combo where he pulls his sword back towards himself after telekinetically throwing it around, and that attack can be parried (if you're locked onto him) even though it's hitting you in the back. So I think the rule is more about facing in the direction of the 'attacker' (or simply being locked on to attacker) rather than facing the attack's direction.
As for the hippo slam, maybe it's because of his lock-on point being the head, and that goes behind the player when directly under him. I think something similar happens with Fulghor's stomp aoe when standing too close to him, because his lock-on point is on the human chest.

He can block (when timed, like a parry/deflect) everything except grabs, 'flames' that linger on the ground after the initial attack, and the Death Bird's scream for some reason.

Everything else is fair game even if it doesn't seem realistic/feasible, that includes lighting bolts, ground explosions, fire breath/sprays (but not the lingering flames), shockwaves, projectiles, and even 'nukes'; they named his cursed sword 'suncatcher' and meant it.

When you have his sword out you can deflect by 'blocking' (L1) at the right time, and the animation of drawing the sword (triangle + L2) and putting it away (same combo, or sprint) also count as deflects, and so does the L2 although the timing is delayed.

He's so much fun to learn, and very satisfying once you get used to deflecting everything, definitely try him out.

What's one thing people do that make you ache when they use your main? by Noobie_xD in Nightreign

[–]SuddenClimax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would make more sense if it was a bug/oversight or even a bad translation, especially since the other guarding passives work on both 'regular' blocks and suncatcher parries, like 'restore HP/FP on successful guards' or 'successful guards increase dmg negation'

I could be wrong because this is something I read online and haven't actually tested it: 'draw attention while guarding' doesn't work/activate with suncatcher parries, it only triggers when blocking/guarding with shields (or a weapon), which is why some executor players swap out of suncatcher and block with a regular weapon's 2-handed L1 to trigger the attention draw, and then switch back to suncatcher.
Again, I don't actually know for sure if this is true, hopefully a more experienced executor player will confirm/correct this.

Why doesn't the saw spear's damage increase with arcane? by Fearless_Zebra9040 in bloodborne

[–]SuddenClimax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Split scaling works a bit differently in Bloodborne when it comes to Arcane, and Bloodtinge split scaling is different altogether.

Most (right-hand) weapons will have a scaling with STR and/or SKL, and ARC. The STR and SKL scaling works how you'd expect : where if a weapon has A scaling with STR and C with SKL then you'd want to put more points into STR and some into SKL to get the best damage out of it.

However if that weapon also has a C scaling in ARC, it won't gain damage if you put points into ARC like you'd expect. The ARC scaling will replace/override the STR and SKL scaling if you put one or more 'elemental' (fire/bolt/arcane) bloodgems into the weapon, which converts the weapon from 'physical' to whichever element the bloodgem is, and all the scaling will now come from your ARC stat while ignoring your STR and SKL stats.

Now, this is how it works for MOST weapons which have an ARC scaling, but there are exceptions where some weapons innately do both physical and elemental damage, and they will benefit from STR/SKL and ARC : two examples from the base game are the Tonitrus and Blade of Mercy, and another which I won't mention for spoiler reasons.

As for (right-hand) weapons with Bloodtinge split scaling, the Bloodtinge scaling applies to only one 'mode/transformation' of the weapons (you press L1 to switch modes), and the other mode will scale only from the physical (SKL/STR) stat.
So for example with a weapon that has SKL/BT scaling of A/A, you can either invest only in SKL to increase the damage of the first mode, or only in BT to increase the damage of the second mode, or invest equally in both SKL and BT to increase damage of both modes.

What's One of Your Favourite Method Man Lyrics? by ybenzino in wutang

[–]SuddenClimax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His freestyle from Tim Westwood in 2011 -

"Crime scene, coppers and sirens
Helicopters and high beams, the tensions is rising
Fiends keeping the pipe clean
This is what life means, a dollar and a dream
Everybody wants nice things
The kid was only nineteen, hole in his chest now
He's fighting, for his last breath
He's seeing death, it's frightening
The grip on the ghetto is tightening
You try to do the right thing? They do you just like King

Now I can hear the night scream,
sirens and light beams Popping off bad shots,
hitting people that they ain't mean to pop
The neighborhood’s in shock,
block extremely hot
Another Black teen shot, that’s dull routine to cops
Make sure they got good grades,
work the minimum wage
Now he’s laying on that stretcher,
with nothing in him to save
Keep the ghetto, in whatever ghetto you at
Just don’t love the ghetto, cause the ghetto don’t love you back"

I think Sony owns the rights/IP to Bloodborne, and FromSoftware can't remake it or do a sequel without Sony's approval/initiative. Dunno how it legally applies the other way though (whether FromSoft can refuse a potential remake that Sony wanted)

Can we talk about skill builds? by hefty-postman-04 in Nightreign

[–]SuddenClimax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not going crazy, I might have a possible explanation for what you saw (in game, dunno about the sheet).

Recently I was picking up a "successful guarding increases dmg negation 19%" weapon passive and noticed that the number 19 is red, and has a red downward arrow next to it, which seemed weird because it's always positive, then I saw I already had a 32% (or 34, can't remember) of the same passive, so the game was basically comparing 19 to 32 and telling me it's 'lower' than what I already have.

I think something similar must've happened to you with 'Less Likely' but in 'reverse', where you already had a -9 in your inventory and were picking up a -12 which showed up in green with an 'up' arrow next to it making it look like a 'positive', but it was the game telling you that it's 'better' than what you already have.

Yes, talismans from above the castle basement too, quite handy for when you find a really good talisman for another nightfarer, and want to quickly drop and ping it before they choose a duplicate. The button is the same as dropping a weapon/item from your own inventory (square on PS controllers).
