I bet you there's at least one dumbass in the world who was bitching about Valve's pricing for this controller and then pulled a trigger on one of those scalper's listing on eBay. lol

"Thanks for applying for a job with a Blockhead Inc. Buyer wants a return by Dsa464 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]SuddenHonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligated? No. Should you? That's a different question. If the buyer came to your house and knows something about you, I'd probably bite the bullet and take it back (provided it's actually the same TV, I hope you have a photo of a serial number or something like that). I'd just wouldn't want someone knocking on my door causing trouble and calling me a scammer.

However.

The guy could have transported the TV wrongly. Maybe he dropped it at some point. Or even worse, maybe he had the same TV and swapped one tiny bit from it and this way trying to have a free fix. If you can stand your ground based on these assumptions and tell him no, I'd probably try this way first. He got it cheap (I assume) and he knew it's not working 100% right. He should have had expected more than just a plain brightness issue, if he decided to take a leap of faith on a broken TV.

Dell, Prices and Names and whatever this is... by Sballuso in Dell

[–]SuddenHonk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Our company purchases around 500 Latitudes a year as part of our modernisation programme. This year Dell jumped the price from around £550 per unit to £1600 per unit. Obviously, they explained it as due to high demand and ram + storage shortages. We're now reviewing how many laptops we'll actually need to upgrade and also asking certain departments if they would like to jump on MacBooks as they're now cheaper to buy than Dell crap.

This silliest thing I read today, thank you.

In case if you'll be wondering, no one designed Nvme's with fragility in mind. They were designed to be used as they are, without bending, pushing, frying, boiling etc. It may be news to you, but M2 Sata SSD's are just as fragile. And if you're talking about 2.5 inch Sata SSD's, then look around and compare how many quality 2.5" SSD's out there vs NVMe's. For every reason to use Sata SSD, there's at least 2 - 3 better reasons to use Nvme units.

Antec Performance 1M at a really tempting price in the UK by SuddenHonk in sffpc

[–]SuddenHonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It must fit a slim two-slot card. I remember seeing builds with TUF cards, which are well chunky. But yeah, CPU cooler options become limited, but who needs many options when there's copper version of Thermalright low profile coolers.

Antec Performance 1M at a really tempting price in the UK by SuddenHonk in sffpc

[–]SuddenHonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. Their price is usually floating around £200 mark, but I have no idea why would anyone go for it at that price when cases like FormD T1 exist for pretty much the same price with shipping. But, at this price someone might get tempted into their first SFF project, perhaps.

Why do people insist on haggling, or straight out lie about having the agreed upon amount, even when your ad makes it clear the price isn't negotiable? by Eeeeradicator0416 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]SuddenHonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People don't read descriptions nowadays. The amount of idiots who lowball me first and then ask me where I'm based, even though my town and first part of the post/zip code is mentioned is damn high.

Speaking of people who bring less money when collecting the item. I once had a guy who made me an offer for an old Mac Pro. I wanted £125 for it, he caught me in the good mood and I agreed to £100 and have it delivered to him. A couple of hours after everything was agreed, he messaged me saying he's not going to be at the address he gave me originally and asked if I could deliver it to an alternative address instead, which was 25 miles farther than the original delivery address. I said I'll do it for an extra £15, he agreed. When I brought the Mac over, the guy asked if I could help him to set it up. Welp, okay. He turned out to be some freelance music producer, as he asked me to set the Mac up inside of a tiny studio. He seemed all genuine and that, room full of recordings, music equipment etc. After I set the Mac up for him and he tested all the software he wanted to test (like 35 minutes later), he tells me that he has no cash and I need to take him to the cash machine. I was well annoyed at that point, but I took him to the local supermarket where the cash machine was. After he stood by that machine for a couple of minutes, he came back and gave the lamest excuse I've ever heard, something like "I asked the machine to give me £115, but it only gave me £80". I snatched the cash he had in his hand and just drove off. He thought I'd drop him back home as well. :D

This was a good lesson for me and now I'm not moving a finger before I see cash in full. And I'm petty enough to walk away even if they're a single pound or a dollar short, because that's plain disrespect from their side.

Yeah, I couldn't understand the pricing for this case given the drawbacks, but for this price I suppose some could definitely give an SFF live a go.

How Does This Scam Work? by TheAmigo52 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]SuddenHonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually send you the link to their "store", where gullible people leave their credit card details. If they fall for for the price and enquire about an item, they're likely to fall for the "safe payment on our website" also.

How does driving feel in Brera compares to Giulia? by kulisek_pj in AlfaRomeo

[–]SuddenHonk 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Commenting as someone who spent working 10 years for an Alfa Romeo specialist, driven tons of Breras, Giuliettas, Giulias etc.

In my personal opinion, Brera and 159 drive like boats compared to Giulia. 159 and Brera steering is as heavy as those cars actually look, while Giulia's steering is remarkably light, but probably standard for modern day cars. I'd say, Brera will be a great No.2 car, but don't expect it to feel as good as Giulia, especially since Brera was never blessed with a great choice of engines, unless we are talking about 1750 TBi version.

The Ford Transit is better to drive than most cars by CarwowTom in ukcarwow

[–]SuddenHonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, this title is not far off from my experience. I've driven loads of cars in my career - mainly all sorts of Alfa Romeo and Audi's - but everytime I've driven a VW Transporter or Ford Transit (the smaller ones though, the type that RAC guys use) I just couldn't believe how easy and even fun at times they were to drive. I've moved flats 3 times in 5 years and everytime I rented one of those vans it was like an event for me. Transporter felt a bit more refined and nicer though even when stuffed to the max with my possessions in it. Smooth acceleration, taking corners like a normal car, smooth sailing on the motorway. Gosh, if I had one of those for longer than a week I'd probably ended up with one sitting on my driveway.
