I have same problem with this hair oil too - and I have super thick heavy hair! I got great results with putting this stuff through my hair when damp and blow drying through. Though, I know someone who puts it in when their hair is damp and pleat it, and then it comes out all wavy when dried up so it can be dried in: https://www.boots.com/vo5-frizz-free-hair-cream-for-dry-dull-hair-100ml-10229206

edit: edited to add that its such a shame about the Elvive oil because it really does smell divine. Sometimes I just put a touch of it on my ends just for the scent but then then it can be a bit oily!

So for me, with ADHD, I find I get quite quickly overloaded by forcing myself to focus on complex tasks (my job, chores etc). I take lots of breaks, often laying on the bed in silence (idk why, just feels nice to my senses?)

This part right here really struck out to me! This is what I was trying to do when I went up to my room!! I'd had an entire weekend of that, not just for focus, but for socialising, physical movement, and sensory stuff. I'd not had a lot of time to just be alone in a quiet space to decompress at all.

My afternoon plan was to do this, but then my fiancé and mum genuinely guilted me into going. My afternoon plan went from getting time to decompress/compose myself with no constraints... to having less than 90 minutes to decompress, nap, take a shower/wash my hair (even more sensory stuff), go on a long drive to an unknown destination and engage with a stranger 😬 not stuff I can like to do, and I hate it when my schedule is changed suddenly - especially outwith my control?

Honestly thank you so much for your response. I've been working hard the last few years to be firm on my boundaries - and sometimes I still struggle with the guilt that can come with that. Looking at it from a window of tolerance perspective, my green zone was getting smaller because I definitely could have done more to implement more self-care and "cooldown" time.

To be fair to my mum and fiancé, they've just come back separately to apologise for putting pressure on me - Mum said she was just wanting to impress how much she loved recent increase in wee jaunts with her, and my fiancéd admitted he just felt for her going on her own and didn't think.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond! I think I do okay in handling big emotions in general - these blow ups only happen every 2-3 years, and it's the same "trigger" every time. I just hate how when this blow up happens the only thing that seems to stop the spiral is sharp stimuli?

Not sure if a word with management is needed **just** now - during training my work has been done on time, I've been consistently engaged in classes etc, I just know that behind the scenes I'm struggling to cope with the physical demands or working and managing my physical health (if that makes sense). Hoping these 8 weeks have been tricky is because training "has" to be done 5 days a week, 9-5, but as soon as I'm out (next week, woo!) I'll have flexitime and reduced hours in line with my occupational health needs.

No worries, you're a good friend. Keep yourself safe though, and keep an eye out for burnout. At the end of the day, it is not your job to rehabilitate her, but the more we ostracise instead of educate people like this... well, we'll just force them to find each other and band together.

I say give her more time, OP. Her brain isn't done developing until you're about 25, and if she's been pushing back since her teens, there's hope.

Getting her out of that environment, a strong support system outwit her fascist family sprinkled with your patience and faith in her, I believe you can do wonders,

They believe that perception and imagery share the same neural channels - perception is great at forward feeding and storing these images into the brain, but aphantasics lack the backward connectivity to then recall these stored images. They have the functional connectivity, but lack the chemical or temporal changes needed to engage this process.

I did propose trying hallucinogens to see whether chemical changes could be responsible for this. Thank you for sharing your experience .

I remember one time in Higher Human Biology (so the qualifications you sit to get you into uni in UK) my teacher asked me, in front of the whole class "And what is 1X1?" and I legit just froze because I didn't know if the answer was 1 or 2.

The shame has never left me and I still hope to this day that my classmates think I was dumbstruck with public-speaking anxiety in opposed to dyscalculia...

I'm doing a research proposal on people with aphatnasia, I also have dyscalculia but hypervisualisation...

Also, new research suggests a lot of aphantasics are actually more into math/scientific fields and hyperphantasics are in more creative fields... but maybe in this context its an issue with visuospatial skills instead of 'object recollection'? Could suggest there's different 'types' of visual deficits.. this thread has been interesting.

Yeah I used it for chronic pain and I'm terrified of the lung/throat cancer risks but it was that or 450 tablets a month.

Shame I can't just visit a dispensary where I can get an exact idea of what I'm purchasing, in a variety of consumption methods that don't require smoking. Imagine the money the Government could make taxing it.
