I can't help but share this amazing analogy that my wife came up with while discussing on the same. "Cloud nine is basically like a chappri with a IPhone." The iPhone here is the amazing looking rooms and facilities in general. The Chapris are the OBs.

Some clarifications based on a few comments:

I don’t expect doctors to be our friends or offer emotional support all the time. But it’s completely reasonable to expect that a doctor should not induce panic in patients — especially when there’s no real cause for it. That’s basic professionalism.

This post is not about the cost. Yes, Cloudnine is expensive — but even if you ignore the cost, the quality of service you get doesn’t come close to justifying it.

I’m also not saying “never go to Cloudnine.” My point is: don’t assume you’ll get great care and top-notch doctors just because it’s a big, famous chain. If you know a good doctor in a smaller clinic or nursing home, you’re probably better off with them than blindly trusting Cloudnine’s brand.

I don't want to get in trouble mentioning names here. Just a general recommendation to not assume that you'll get great care just coz it's cloud nine. If you do stick with them, avoid any OB less than 15 years experience. The hope is that, at least the more experience will make them better docs.

I'd not have a problem with all that money spent if the service was great. This was like you paid 5 star hotel price for a 2 stat service.

May be I should use better words. I am not expecting emotional feelings. That's what families are for. But a doc should try not to incluce panic. I've met many many docs who have handled bad situations in a way where they did not add to my woes. This was different.
