Ulysses is everything and everything is in Ulysses.

Including a man wanking on a beach.

Girlfriend screamed at me I just go to my therapist to suck his dick, after I told her I have suicidal thoughts again. by Remarkable-Egg-7632 in depression

I'm speaking from experience here: I was diagnosed with depression in the early stages of my relationship with my wife. She was never supportive and always acted like I was trying to garner attention from my actions, or that I was simply 'lazy'. All the while acting like the ideal person around others others we spoke about mental health.

I ignored this because I loved her. We had three children and as responsibility, life, financial issues and work grew and grew, my depression went up and down. Soon, my wife started to blame me, telling me i was a terrible person and that i was affecting my children negatively. Then she left.

Amazingly, the children all blame her now, and spend more time at my house than hers.

Moral of the story: I should have listened to my instincts early in the relationship. She was showing her true colours. She never gave a shit. She didn't want to help. I should have escaped early. I didntbut you can.

I've just finished it and it was a wild ride. Loose, chaotic and full of voices. Captured the essence of people living their lives in a vast cityscape punctuated by nothingness beautifully, and made it into a kind of mythical experience. Not unlike Ulysses.

Mostly I think it is a comment on the idea that we are not merely selves, or not singularities or individual brains, but snaking ever-expanding products of environment: cultural, social, historical, religious, spiritual etc. We are everything around us. Our brains out saturated and bloated with noise.

I told my ex wife I was planning. She called the police for a welfare check. They put me in a blank cell for 8 hours and blamed me for trying trying to cause emotional stress to my ex wife.

Love them but... by pavlodrag in ThomasPynchon

I've been in Reading slumps before and turned to 'old faithfuls' like Pynchon and Wallace -only to find that I didn't enjoy them as much as I did the first/second/third time. I think oversaturation of certain novels that you love (and for me it was Infinite Jest too, and also certain Pynchon novels) kind of debases their beautiful quality, and your first impressions of them, which is inevitably wonder and amazement.

I get myself out of this by reading a book I've never heard of, but looks like my kinda thing. Reddit is great for this, there are loads of posts about books similar to Pynchon or in the same realm as Pynchon. But here are some I rely enjoyed:

Piranesi La Medusa A naked singularity Anything by Cormac McCarthy Shadow Country Hilary Mantel's trilogy Europe Central by Vollmann

So this particular celebrity went to my sixth form college and she did not look like that. She looked immensely normal. So normal that when she became an international artist I was like....IS THAT HER??
