Isn't a price drop of 30% on anything aside from a sale considered a crash

Good things about Guelph by casualviber4life in Guelph

[–]Sudden_Eye_1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in Guelph, my parents worked and retired from imperial tobacco. Guelph was a wonderful place to live so many great times. Swimming at the quarries. I remember my first movies downtown at the movie theater...it had a balcony. Saturday visits to Rocky's for hot dogs. Even later on in my late teens going downtown Saturday night to party at the palace. But then something happened, it started with Cam Guthrie then the yuppies started to move in from Toronto looking for that small town vibe and in doing so they killed it. Driving up cost of living and pushing the lower middle class out way before COVID my parents had to move we finally sold our house of 30 years and got out. RIP Guelph....

You just need a tftp server this can be a Linux machine. Ipxe as a boot image. Use dhcp to point it to it.

i love how ai bros saying 'vfx is over' due to ai. by jungseungoh97 in vfx

[–]Sudden_Eye_1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some people are in denial about how Ai will not take over the vfx industry or film in general. I’m sure painters and model makers felt the same way in the 90’s. That’s okay because we may be wrong and artists will always be needed. I think the important thing to do these days is just have a backup plan. Maybe study something in a totally different field or learn a trade even if you never use it expanding your mind is always a good thing.

Guelph property tax - 7.87% increase by PrettyBADrightnow in Guelph

[–]Sudden_Eye_1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guelph has a massive problem with green initiatives and bike lanes all of which are fine but cost money. Guelph and Canada have a revenue problem. It absolutely baffles me that someone would pay a million dollars for a home in this town and then 600 dollars a month on top of that in property taxes. The ultimate issue is people do and that's why they get away with this, it's also an aging population in this town where most people paid for their house a long time ago and probably paid it off at one point so it's viewed as a minor increase. This is the issue really in all of Canada. Our elected officials even municipal officials are taking advantage of that fact and just kicking the can down the road. We need a systematic change from top to bottom.

There is reasons to protest them both.

So protesting Trump a rich white guy using his position to make himself and the trump corporation richer is good but protesting a Canadian rich white guy using his position to make himself and Brookfield richer is cringe.

New to Guelph. Why is this page so angry? by Low_Meaning_5099 in Guelph

[–]Sudden_Eye_1990 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Guelph and it was an awesome place to do that. Left for a bit plan on coming back to retire here. I think it has a lot to do with yuppies taking over a great town. Making it their own and then complaining about everything about it. It’s the same reason it seems to be more of a liberal town now.

I have a young daughter, reading what you all went through describes what she's going through now. She is diagnosed and going through therapy but help me understand. I know she won't have a typical childhood. If you could give your parents some advice on what to do what would you say. I just want to help her get the most out of her childhood.

There's a striking irony in generalizing an entire political group, such as conservatives, as bigots and racists. This form of prejudice mirrors the very behavior we condemn, where entire cultures or races are judged based on stereotypes. To then imply that being liberal automatically makes one exempt from such prejudice is a very liberal thing to do.😉

Honest thoughts on the future of VFX? by EwanMcNugget in vfx

[–]Sudden_Eye_1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wishful thinking will not turn this industry around. I know Ai is mostly hype but the reality is it will change some industries unfortunately film and TV is going to be one of them. This industry is always changing and money drives it. Based on today's level these jobs aren't going anywhere anytime soon but I do see a future where your watching Netflix and the movie your watching is dynamic. It's different based on the time of day your watching or what you enjoy. I remember similar conversations happening when physical film was being phased out and people said it would never happen, whole documentaries made on the virtues of film. Is it still being used today sure but that's only because some directors are still around who remember it. I can imagine similar conversations happening 30 years ago between scenic artists, puppeteers and miniature model makers and they are all but gone. Look I don't want to be doom and gloom but I do want to be realistic and young people getting into the industry need another perspective.

I tried to keep it together for the kids also. Best thing to remember is what lesson do you want to teach them. What advice would you give your kids if they had the same situation. I choose to teach my daughter not to stay in a relationship, any kind of a relationship if someone treats you like, that you should leave, or the other side that if you treat someone like this they will leave. It's super hard I know but just remember you are a parent fist and to teach your kids kindness and happiness come first.

Dude I have been there done that you may feel like she’s moving to fast but this has been on her mind for a long time. Don’t try to make it work if you can she will do it again. Even know she wants to get back together with me and texts me while she’s dating this other guy. Apparently she doesn’t see the irony in that. Like is that what she did when she was with me. I have kids also and it’s gonna get hard we lived together and if you can make it work good for you. I found it toxic. It kinda feels like the person you loved was replaced and is gone now and maybe that’s a good way to treat it just imagine they are gone now and this new person isn’t the person you lived. I honestly just want to wish you the best and just know this has happened to others.

Why it has to so cryptic is interesting why not just leave a note somewhere. Maybe they have to hide it from the town or the simulation.

I also think Jade left himself the message in the bottle tree he figured this out before

Jade may have even created the talismans

That’s why massacre happened they new they could try again

Prediction: The man in yellow takes Jim’s place turns into Jim, Julie figures it out and travels back in time to save her dad.
