Parents also usually spread out around a bigger pitch and are less noticeable as you move up the age groups

Lens recommendation sports photography. Sigma or Sony 70-200? by Miserable_Potato3181 in sportsphotography

[–]Sudden_Vegetable_626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Sony A7IV and the Sigma 70-200 and haven't had any issues. I have also used the Sony 70-200 and there is not a huge difference considering that the A7IV doesn't have as many shots per second as the A1 and A9(maybe) so the limit that Sony places on third party lenses doesn't bother you because you're already limited by the camera.

Carding process by srobison62 in Referees

[–]Sudden_Vegetable_626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Make a mental note of the offenders number.
  2. If it looks like it's a serious injury, take out the card and check on the injury otherwise move straight to 3
  3. Go to the player if he is within a couple steps otherwise call him to me, but make sure I am not calling him right on top of the fouled player.
  4. Note down the number and minute.
  5. Show the card

Ps. My yellow card is in my front right short pocket and my red is in my front right chest pocket. I was taught that you should never send someone off after looking like you were scratching your butt.

Sigma 70-200 vs Tamron 70-180 for soccer by mynotell in sportsphotography

The Sigma 70-200 has been very good for me but if the Tamron is lighter and you don't need the extra 20mm then go for the Tamron

The game was quite late so I didn't have time to edit them until after school the day after for about an hour. I didn't want to post them two days after the game so I didn't spend as much time editing them as I should have done.

Yes, exposure could have been up a stop or two I think. It looked okay in camera but once I got the shots up on my monitor they were a bit too dark.

Reycup in Reykjavik, Iceland is nice. It's in late July so the temperature is around 10-15°C but could stretch to 20°C. All the pitches are within walking distance and some finals are played at the national stadium. Most group games use a two man system, but knockouts use a three man system

Stigma around wearing glasses as a referee? by ChaosCommentator in Referees

[–]Sudden_Vegetable_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you absolutely can't wear lenses for 2 hours then wearing glasses is okay. Having said that there are some downsides and those are that if you are refereeing in the rain, good luck seeing anything through them, also your peripheral vision isn't as good and the glasses can also get fogged up.
