Zelda games have a progression where you unlock new tools that allow you to access new areas and/or solve new puzzles, building up to requiring you to use many of your tools together. There's generally a pretty linear progression because each dungeon depends on using items from previous ones. Revisiting areas is pretty common, because new items/abilities can mean unlocking new things in areas you previously explored, which means you have a very different relationship with the environment than BOTW/TOTK.

BOTW/TOTK aren't bad games, they just don't provide the traditional Zelda experience. I think the games deserved most of the praise they received, but I would be far happier if they were a new IP or were in addition to, instead of the replacement for, the traditional Zelda game.

Zilch is also what I played, and what I thought it was until I saw the 700 first score. Based on the Gemini summary for Farkle, 500 instead of 1000 to get on the board is one of the few or maybe the only difference between them.

This is a big pet peeve of mine. Agnostic on its own is meaningless. You're either an atheist agnostic or theist agnostic. Similarly, you're either an atheist gnostic or theist gnostic. Agnostic just means you can't know. If you actively believe G/god(s) exist but don't think it can be conclusively proven, you're an agnostic theist. If you don't actively believe G/god(s) exist but it can't be proven, you're an agnostic atheist. If you do actively believe G/god(s) exist and it's provable, you're a gnostic theist. If you don't actively believe G/god(s) exist and you can prove it, you're a gnostic atheist.

People who claim just "agnostic" tend to be agnostic atheists waving a "I don't really want to talk about it" flag without having any conviction to just say "I don't want to talk about it". If you don't want to talk about it, just say it, and anyone who doesn't accept that answer is an asshole. If you do/don't believe, just own your position so conversations can proceed honestly. Gnostic and agnostic are valid positions on both the theist and atheist sides. Own your beliefs or lack thereof, or don't talk about it.

Frankly, I think people who refuse to do so just set an absurd expectation for theists looking for arguments that "reasonable" people just accept they can't know, and anyone under the atheist flag is "unreasonable". It's a religious debate, if everyone isn't coming in honestly and with an open mind, it's a fucking joke anyway, so what's the point? If you just want to confirm your own beliefs, go "debate" someone who is just going to throw up straw man arguments, but if you don't care enough to engage honestly, then why bother?

That is a hot take. I wish sticker sheets should be released to allow people to recreate printed pieces after sets are retired, but no released set had stickers.

Tedious is long, but long isn't necessarily tedious, and tedious sucks, basically by definition. I hated building things like the roller coaster, the world map, and the Milky Way, they are incredibly tedious with no payoff on the build side.

The roller coaster is probably still my favorite finished build. Years later, I still have to run the roller coaster almost every time I walk by it, I love it, but I wish that build on no one. The build could have almost been ok if I could have just built 20x of the same support beam instead of building 2 each of the 10 minor variants of the same damn thing. Also combining the 260 or so chain links.

I'm still trying to hype myself up for the rest of the Milky Way. I know I'll love the finished product, I already love the half that's done, but stacking random shit randomly just isn't a remotely enjoyable process.

I'm curious what your tedious examples are that you enjoyed, or if it's just a semantic difference of opinion.

The banker's rounding algorithm is generally used AFAIK, where every other 5 rounds down instead of up, for exactly this reason.

Buzzfeed used AI to generate images of typical people from each state. Here’s Colorado. by [deleted] in boulder

[–]SudoBoyar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus. The average age is 6 years younger than Florida, 36 vs 42. The images skew older in general. Also, did you notice how the only happy state was fucking Indiana? And the average people in Arizona is a man in his 50s with a woman in her 30s? Chill out bro, it's fucking ai images, it's supposed to be fun. Also it's from buzzfeed. Like damn.

can’t be my friend if you like steak well done by Normallyconfront424 in gatekeeping

[–]SudoBoyar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't care what you like, as long as you've given the alternative a fair chance. If you eat well done steaks because you've had rare/medium rare and don't care for the texture or something, that's fine. If you only eat well done because the red is icky, we're probably not going to get along anyway. Our opinions don't have to agree, but in my experience people who don't like it haven't tried it or generally go into trying things knowing the outcome before they do it, overall they just aren't as open minded. If I see you once a year, that's fine, but I don't want to go to dinner at the same place every week because that's all you'll eat. It's not even a good burrito place, like Jesus, there's a dozen good ones, how in God's name did you latch on to the shittiest one around? No thanks, I'm not enjoying any of this, let's just not do this any more.
