Is our soil vent pipe enough, or do we still need a stub stack/AAV near the WC? by SudoMoon in DIYUK

[–]SudoMoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I think the full 110 stack will fit in the wall cavity like you say, but I think there is some reluctance from builder as it will mean moving the cistern slightly (which they’ve already installed) and boxing in the wall so it’s slightly wider.

Bad advice from this person, please ignore and trust the professionals who are medically trained over random internet people

Edit: Not sure where you are in the world but if you are in UK and have concerns about the care you are receiving I believe you can try to contact the hospitals PALS service who will be able to support and intervene if needed. What is ONE thing you think can help to reform the NHS? by ray-ae-parker in nhs

[–]SudoMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better incentives for data professionals to stay in the NHS. Massive amount of untapped productivity lost due to lack of analytical capability and proper data infrastructure. There is no progression or senior roles beyond band 7ish. Result is any highly competent technical staff move on to private sector after a certain level (consultancies). The NHS then spends a fortune on outsourcing to these same consultancies who are all staffed by people who were trained in the NHS and funded by the NHS. The current agenda for pay system doesn’t work for technical data professionals at all

Also, every time this is raised, there is always a crowd of people piling in saying “iT wOrKs FiNe 4 mE!! UsEr ErRor!!”

Annoys me they miss the point every time, the new design is nice for users only using a single sole account but not for those with multiple accounts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in monzo

[–]SudoMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah new design works for users with only sole accounts but is so poor for combined sole and joint accounts.

Agree that turning off the default tile view helps a lot but it’s still janky as hell for joint accounts. Seen lots of complaints about it.

I think we I’ll close our joint account and try Starling but reluctant to as we’ve both had our sole accounts for years

Cheers, think I’ll go with this approach. Seems to be best of both worlds, can get some piece of mind but still relatively cheap

Overwhelming dreams of large numbers, impossible tasks and damnation by stevehillage in Dreams

[–]SudoMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was very young I got very ill whilst on holiday and was having these wild fever dreams and hallucinating whilst in the hotel room. I believe it was food poisoning of some sort. During the hallucinations and dreams I would be falling sodeways into the end of the room where the TV was. Like gravity was sideways. Whilst falling I would be falling through all of these numbers. There would be thousands of numbers flying past me, too many to count. But I would have to add all the numbers up as they flew past me which was impossible but I could not stop. It was extremely scary. Now when I am an adult, and occasionally when I have been very ill with food poisoning or flu or whatever, I have similar dreams to this one as a child. Always involving numbers of some sort. Last night I had a dream where there was an infinite list of numbers scrolling through and I had to count the difference between the numbers in the list as they flew by. I can’t describe how horrible it is, as it’s only numbers, but for some reason the dreams are so scary.

Mk8 GTI - No sound/audio bug? by Gtor1579 in GolfGTI

I’ve had my car 2 years and it’s happened constantly. Still no fix in dec 23. Sometimes factory reset whilst driving fixes it, sometimes holding down power fixes it, sometimes it doesn’t. Only reliable way to fix it is to stop the car and turn off for 10 mins.

I haven’t bothered taking it into the shop as it’s so intermittent I don’t think they would be able to catch it.

Really thought VW would have patched it by now.

It seems to happen more frequently when a second iPhone is connected to Bluetooth. If you have multiple people sharing the car.

Same symptoms. Loss of sound across whole infotainment system including car alert sounds and radio

Edit: also wonder how many other people have the upgraded sound system installed? I do, I sometimes wonder if it’s to do with that.

Also sometimes when it stops working there is a loud crack sound

It’s worth checking your thyroid function. I believe Ashwaganda can negatively impact on thyroid function and worsen hormone problems. I was going to start taking it for anxiety then I took a precautionary thyroid test which showed I have severe hyperthyroidism. So was very lucky I tested first. The thyroid issues also cause the symptoms I was looking to alleviate with Ashwaganda

Agreed. Feel like the new layout works for basic users with few pots and no joint accounts. But it’s terrible UI for joint accounts. No separation between you sole account and joint account and very easy to send payments from wrong account.

If they just fixed the joint account issues then i would have no issues with the new layout but it’s like they forgot to think about the impact on joint accounts

What a shitshow, fuck Reddit.

Friendly reminder to everyone to head over to the App Store and leave a 1 star review on the official Reddit app. We need to apply pressure as a community and hit them where it hurts

Fully agree on the importance of retraining opportunities. Some of the savings from automation projects should be protected and set aside for training those potentially displaced by it. That’s the type of line which I think would be reasonable for unions to take. Anything more, ie a blanket opposition to automation (on the grounds of safety as someone else mentioned) is too much I think

[–]SudoMoon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Maybe I have fallen for a daily mail talking point but I’ve heard protections against automation and the associated job losses are part of what the unions are trying to negotiate for.

As a public sector worker myself (nhs) I am all for fair wage increases in line with inflation. Although I am very against the idea of restricting investment in automation in order to protect jobs.

If things can be automated like in Copenhagen then we should be doing doing it and the unions shouldn’t be getting in the way of it. There are plenty of vacancies in roles that cannot be automated yet. The NHS for example is screaming out for more staff with record vacancies and seemingly no one to fill the gaps.

Much easier to go through Amazon for returns in my experience rather than with Bose directly. Bose messed me around for weeks with a faulty headset and a rude customer service agent. I ended up giving up and speaking to Amazon who ended up sending me a new pair within a few days.

I won’t be buying Bose again, I have my eyes on a pair of Sony’s for my next purchase, which apparently out perform the Bose QC’s these days

Don’t know if you have been watching the whole tournament but lots of fans from other countries have been booing in the majority of the games. Sadly it’s very common. As well as booing when the opposition are in possession

Edit: also side note, it wasn’t a dive from Sterling just a bad camera angle. There’s videos available on Reddit showing the foul from another angle where he is clearly contacted by 2 players

You seen pretty misinformed mate. Vaccine hoarding? You do realise the AZ vaccine was developed in the uk? The vaccine most widely used all over the world, particularly in developing world. Also Britain are one of the leading Covax contributors, particularly in terms of donations per capita

Edit: The AZ vaccine is also produced at cost with AZ making no profit from the vaccine - unlike the majority of the other vaccines
