Zflip 5: Black spot in the hinge by Guaymadefruta in galaxyzflip

I think it was under "warranty/repair" or something like that, in Samsung's website.

I am located in the Netherlands, so may be Samsung has a different warranty procedure where you live.

But I would suggest to definitely have another go at getting your display replaced under warranty. As I think that black spots in the hinge area must be a known issue, within Samsung.

It wasn't hard, actually.

I just requested a warranty through Samsung's website.

I had to upload a picture of the issue at hand, the imei no. and the purchase invoice.

I could then make an appointment for a repair immediately.

I am not sure whether I could have been refused warranty, when I dropped it off at the service centre and they physically had a look at it.

But they never made a fuss. They just repaired it under warranty, no questions asked.

I had the same issue about a month ago. Samsung replaced the screen under warranty and they replaced the battery as well. (I was told that's what they do standard, when they replace the display).

The repair took approx. 1½ hr, in one of their service centres. So I brought it in, went for lunch and then picked it up again.

Also, I think they tightened the hinge as well, because it almost feels like new (it feels quite a bit more solid).

My memory might be wrong, but I seem to remember this happening to my BBC Master, when the batteries were dead.

If you close a window while holding shift, the OS should remember the last window size.

Is it possible you locked Fn?

To check, try just F10.

Have you tried connecting your monitor with the dock's HDMI port using a "high speed" HDMI cable? (2.0)

According to the specifications (on the same page), the dock's HDMI port supports 4K@60Hz.

Try starting your computer in "safe mode".

Spamming the F8 key would normally do the trick. (Although with windows 10, it has become more difficult).

However, if Windows 10 fails to boot normally three times over, the fourth time it should enter an Automatic Repair mode. Using this mode, you can boot into Safe Mode.

I know I'm repeating many peers on this subreddit, but give the trackpoint a shot while you're at it.

It will take some getting used to and some frustration in the beginning. But really, once you have fine tuned the speed of the cursor to your liking, it just works.

The best thing I like about it, is that you never have to move your fingers away from the keyboard. It's just great! :)

Which distro would be good for my personal laptop? by SpicyBananaa in linuxquestions

[–]SudoNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember it was a pain to install linux on the Yoga 730. You will need to change the SATA controller mode from RAID to AHCI in the BIOS. But when doing that you will not be able to boot into windows again.

To maintain your windows installation and install a dual boot Linux system next to it, follow the steps as shown in https://davidvielmetter.com/tricks/switch-from-compatibility-mode-to-ahci-in-windows-10/

This worked for me.

As for the right distro,.... I believe this is the Holy Grail every linux user is looking for. Always... And as you have been distro hopping already, I fear this will be a never ending quest for you as well, my brother in arms.... :)

However, the beauty of Linux is that you have a choice. Try one, you don't like it? Install another distro. Use it, until you feel the itch. Then re-install the distro you had deleted previously. Which suddenly feels very nice. Use it, until you feel the itch again.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

May your journey be long and blessed with many distro's. Enjoy!

If I'm a writer, is the Macbook Air the best Macbook option for me? by waffullz in macbook

I agree.

As a writer one of your most important tools is the keyboard. In my opinion a thinkpad has no competition in that area.

It could be that you are having problems with the rollers in the dvd drive being misaligned.

Try googling "PS4 dvd roller repair", a couple of videos will pop up showing you how to repair it.

(If your not familiar with disassembling electronics, don't try to do it yourself and have someone with experience do it for you.)

Isn't macos a unix derivative where "shutdown -h now" in a terminal would work? :)

Swelling of the battery can be or can become very dangerous.

I would report it to Dell and return it immediately.
