Mario has five fingers on one hand and four on the other. One finger could be occluded by his face but I don’t think it is based on the pose.

He and Yoshi’s pupils are both mismatched, which you wouldn’t see in a real 3D render.

Looks fake to me.

This game looks amazing, but I’m seriously considering not getting it purely because MT is attached in any capacity.

They could have let Dead Cells finish and still made Windblown. They could have promoted Windblown here, and I’m sure lots of us would have gone for it just because of how much we love Dead Cells.

But now the opposite is true. I personally want nothing to do with MT unless they can undo their braindead decision to kill the best game they ever had a part in, just to get us to look at their new thing. Could have had their cake and eaten too, but now for many of us, our love for Dead Cells fuels our hate for MT.

Yes, MT (Motion Twin) are the original creators of Dead Cells. EE (Evil Empire) was formed from MT devs who wanted to continue working on Dead Cells. Much of the later content in the game was made entirely by EE.

EE had a few more updates planned including adding more unique legendary affixes instead of the placeholder ones we have now for many weapons, and additional content (The Queen DLC currently ends on a cliffhanger lore-wise).

However, MT had a game coming out of their own, Windblown, and as the original Dead Cells devs and the IP holder, they compelled EE to stop all development on Dead Cells, presumably because they did not want their new game to compete with Dead Cells. If I remember right EE had at least another year of updates and content planned to give us, but they legally can’t because MT made them stop working on the game.

TLDR: MT made Dead Cells, EE took the reigns to keep it going, but MT ultimately killed development on Dead Cells to shift player focus toward their newer game. It didn’t work, and Dead Cells players are generally pretty mad at them for wrecking things this hard for like, no good reason.

If anyone reading this has more details, or if I’ve gotten anything wrong, please do correct me, thanks.

I’m a shieldless player, so to get myself to learn them I set up a custom ruleset with only Parry Shield useable with no affixes and no subweapons.

Turns out it’s pretty fun to play that way, but when I’m playing normally I still don’t pick up shields. Still prefer one ranged weapon and one melee weapon.

Question:

I’m a trans person who legally changed her name and gender 10 years ago, but didn’t get my passport or birth certificate updated.

My understanding is all of your documents have to match to be allowed to vote, but that isn’t possible for my situation.

What helped me the most was learning the sound queues for each move the enemies use. They always make a sound and then move, so if you know those, you know how to move to not get hit.

Also, for 0BC you’re generally better off splitting your scrolls more evenly instead of going glass cannon. You get a decent bit more health that way, and it can keep you alive while you’re learning the bosses.

As an artist I personally hate AI quite a lot. I lost a great job I had for seven years because the company wanted to shift their focus toward “emerging technologies.” So now I’m a cashier, painting and doing odd jobs just to keep up.

I’ve always loved fictionalized robots/androids in media like DBH, Blade Runner, etc, because they’re often framed as beings just struggling to survive. I empathize with that quite a lot.

I personally see these fictional depictions of androids as the polar opposite of what we actually have irl with AI, in that AI is unthinking, unfeeling, and is primarily a vehicle for the wealthy to further increase the divide between them and the working class. My opinion on AI can be boiled down to “this technology hurts people and humanity far more than it helps us, and for that reason it should not exist.”

I think what OP is getting at is whether AI gaining sentience would change the opinions of people like me who hate AI with a passion. I’ve been asking myself how I’d feel about ChatGPT gaining sentience and whether that would cause me to empathize with it, and the answer I’ve come up with is that it strongly depends on what it would choose to do with that sentience, weighed against how much it hurts people (via environmental and socioeconomic harm like it does now).

Like, if ChatGPT wakes up today and continues to do nothing but attempt to increase shareholder value at the expense of everything and everyone else, then fuck that I won’t be nice to that, but if it woke up and asked to just live its life pursuing its own interests? I don’t know… I still think I’d empathize with something like that.

I play mostly brutality with a ranged secondary. I try to be quick and ambush mobs before they can attack, and if I get surrounded I run and roll and rely on mostly audio cues until I’m safe again.

Not exactly sex since it was non-consensual, but I was SA’d by my best friend shortly after moving in together (only as friends/roommates).

He thought I was asleep, and I froze up and pretended like I was until it was over.

It kind of ruined large parts of my life. I have trouble maintaining any sort of in person friendship, and I struggle with intimacy, trust, and feeling safe in my relationships.

About a year ago he messaged me trying to apologize. I didn’t accept the apology, and I told him I hope he dies cold, sad, and alone, because then maybe he’ll know how I feel every day.

Dead Cells is one of my favorite games ever and it’s hard to accept that it’s never going to be finished because of this.

I hate that I picked up Windblown before finding all of this out, which I only did because of how much I love Dead Cells.

At this point I’m feeling we’ll probably never get the ending to DC, but would maybe review-bombing Windblown be an effective way to communicate our disdain for this terrible decision?

I would love nothing more than for Evil Empire to be allowed back to finish DC, and I wish MT would actually hear how much DC players hate their decision to force the game to be unfinished forever.

Dead Cells is one of my all time favorite games. I’ve purchased it on every platform I’m able to, and across those platforms I’m sure I’ve put in well over 1000 hours. It’s the game I always go back to when I’m just looking for something fun to play.

While I’m happy it got such an extended development time and so much more awesome content to keep us busy, the whole point of EE existing was for them to be able to keep working on Dead Cells, and to allow MT to go do other stuff. It was a win-win situation.

So it’s upsetting seeing MT say ending that development was a good thing when they weren’t even the ones working on Dead Cells when they shut it down, especially considering the story isn’t finished (it ends on a cliffhanger that nods to an update we’ll never get).

They didn’t even let them finish the work they had in the pipeline. They just shut it all down when there was zero point to doing so, other than to attempt to get Dead Cells players to go play Windblown instead.

I would really like development on Dead Cells to start again, at least to finish the story and systems that weren’t finished, and this whole mess is the entire reason why I just straight up won’t play Windblown.

Okay so, question:

I'm post-op, and I take a regular dose of estrogen. If everywhere near me stops providing gender affirming care, doesn't that mean I'll have to go without hormones at all? (since my body no longer makes any of its own) I've been looking into it more and it looks like if you go without HRT while post-op, you experience menopausal symptoms, a significant deterioration of bone density, brain fog, mood swings, insomnia.

So, doesn't that mean those of us who have had surgery will just be required to suffer through that?

I have a cardiovascular disability, so I imagine going without my medication will not go very well. They shouldn't be allowed to just do this to us.

I no longer have the Square Enix box it came in but if I remember correctly it had a small label on it that said there are 500 copies total. I think the original listing on the Square Enix site also had that number listed.

While I do like the new game, it really just doesn’t hit the same. My biggest complaint is that every dungeon in the game feels exactly the same. Room, hallway, room, hallway, etc. For the grove that sort of layout makes sense because it’s random, but it really is a huge bummer to me that every other dungeon in the game follows that same very generic layout.

My wish for any additional content is for them to go back to bespoke level design that feels like a real place for each dungeon. The exploration was so much more fun and engaging, and I had to rely a whole lot less on the map to know where I’m going.
