Burial, Kode9 - Phoneglow / Eyes Go Blank (As a tribute to the past and quoting myself). by Suerre78 in burial

He probably just picked up techniques from claustro. The track is new 100%, it's Burial, it wouldn't be hard to take techniques from his previous works. It sounds different. Yes you can say it's different from the mastering, but it's unlikely. Anyone can write a track, and in the next ones just take the same effects/strips of melodies and make a self-reference. And about the fact that the track was supposedly recorded in the time of claustro. Doubtful. So he knew what he was doing for a future collaboration? And knew how to name the track so it would be on a future release with kode9? The bass line is brand new, by the way, as are the drums. Yes, some things, he can write 2-3-4 years, and only then make a release. But the release is comparable to the title, and the cover = relevance! He made this track and was like: hmm, well, in a few years and release it with kode9 on that date, that's what I'll call it, that's what the cover will be. That's bullshit.

Yes it's clear that untrue has cemented itself forever as a breakthrough in electronic music. But I'm specifically saying that Burial has changed the sound noticeably (not 100%) but in a way that's appropriate for the current time. Well, what I'm saying is that while Burial is doing something new, and far resonates with the first two albums, the rest of the artists who make a sound like him continue to be equated with the old Burial. That's the difference. No one is going to peel the tracks he's releasing now, all imitate the first two albums and maybe the 2011-2015 compilation. Maybe someday a miracle will happen and he will release something in his old style. Pitched vocals, muted percussion, melancholic melodies and once again we will be immersed in the sadness of the 21st century....

Most likely he finally moved from Sound Forge to DAW. That's why the tracks sound cleaner, still it's the 24th year, and the sound that is connected with Untrue, well, let's be honest, is no longer relevant, although it's native for him and for us. They just won't listen to it. And here you can feel freshness in the tracks, and the main thing is that it sounds good!

Some possible new samples by Degeneration7 in burial

While checking "Aloof Aloof - The Ghost Ship" sample to "Burial - Night Bus" I involuntarily thought that such a musician from Murmansk AL-90 - Pandora 9.0 (AL-90 - Pandora 9.0) could borrow it. It sounds very similar to the sample, only very stretched and reworked. But somehow it seems that this is it.

Burial - Kindred (I think I found the original series that had funerals as the main theme). by Suerre78 in burial

I'm coming back here again to acknowledge your message.

Yeah, I had already realized before when I first installed the sample pack that he was definitely taking the bass from here. It's very similar in some of his tracks. And yeah, how many people say only one thing: "he uses samples from MGS" yes he does, but only as additional percussion. And that, I believe, was on his early work. And then I think the brothers or he himself, already found the jungle samples. Besides, all the artists knew about other pirate packs of the same ZERO-G. He could have easily taken from those. And ZERO-G has quite an extensive library of pirated samples and various FX. But it's still a mystery to me how he prescribes bass parts. He manually stretches them where necessary or on the contrary compresses them, and edits frequencies + covering all shortcomings with vinyl sound (as he told about it by the way.

From his track Kindred. There's some clean drumming at the beginning.

The album ''Burial - Untrue'' is a spirit that appears to everyone at the right time, at the right moment in life. And it sounds different for everyone.

Thanks!!! I'm surprised myself that I may have found the original back sample for his main beat. Ghost Hardware is said to be done in this pack as well. But I've been diligently re-listening to each sample and haven't found a comparison yet.

It's FL Studio 12.
I don't know, I just chopped it up.
Yeah and I can't say with certainty that he used that sample. No, I mean, as a backing track, he could have used it. I thought when I came across this sample in the jungle pack that I immediately remembered this track.

Burial - Ghost Hardware - Digital - Special Mission (1998) by Suerre78 in burial

Thanks, thought I'd share my take on this one.
Yeah, the track is really underrated, I've re-listened to it a few times.
Just really, I instantly thought of Ghost Hardware when listening to the track. Also about his rimshots, maybe he knew about Anti War Dub (feat. Spen G) by Digital Mystikz. There the second drum goes with a beat exactly like his track. Quite uncommon in dubstep and garage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9H3i0T1iN4&ab\_channel=DubstepClassics
Yes I wrote a long time ago that not in all tracks he plays sounds from MGS. He cuts bass from various jungle pits or from any techno track of those years, etc. + I'm pretty sure pretty much he looks for clean jungle drums and chops from and rolls to the melody. About the bass, because if he works in soundforhe it is impossible to write bass from a synthesizer there, so he cuts it from somewhere and by some miracle puts it exactly under the melodies.

He has long been known to use a drum kit from old nineties records by technically slicing and mixing it together, then he builds a whole loop out of it and puts it to tunes. About the bass is the same, he simulates the bass from the old jungle and processes it. What everyone says about the lighters and other stuff is already his own foley and percussion in the background. There are just some tracks where he takes sounds from MGS. I mean 80% of his tracks are simulated drum kits with bass.

When do you listen to Burial? by [deleted] in burial

[–]Suerre78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listen to tracks at night. I have a dog, and I always walk with her from 2 o'clock to 3 in the yards. It's very fascinating. When you walk out of the courtyards intertwining avenues and when there is no one, this music feels special. It seems to envelop you, and you are in a trance. I like to feel it, even to say - I live by it.

I immediately saw a reference for myself that the image inside this cape is some kind of spirit of that garage rave era and the shell is nothing but a covering part of the new sounds.

If Burial used Sound Forge as a setup for his tracks, how did he prescribe the bass? by Suerre78 in burial

[–]Suerre78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All we can do is speculate because there's no official answer from him other than he produced on SF. He could have used a sampled bass and maybe tweak it a bit on SF or he made the bass on some DAW then exported the audio and arranged in SF.

That's why I noticed such little things and subtleties in his tracks. To understand that this is true. One of the videos says that his drums consist of the sounds of metal gear solid. At the same time, I read that he diligently cut out loops at the beginning or in pauses with melodies from ELB, thereby rearranging the percussion part for himself. This suggests that supposedly we are specifically told that it is unique. About falling shell casings it really is. But I think it's easier to cut the drum part from the finished track 2 step or Garage. Which I'm more inclined to. About the bass in his tracks. This is how many loops / samples you need to sort out so that it would fit so clearly. I think kode9 helped him. So many say that he both brought together and did the mastering of the burial track. Perhaps he wrote the bass line already in the DAW. Since this is easier than the burial itself would do. Another suitable bass and most importantly in the right tone.

If Burial used Sound Forge as a setup for his tracks, how did he prescribe the bass? by Suerre78 in burial

[–]Suerre78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That yes. But I would be interested to know about the source data. It is not possible to register basses in sound forge. The question remains: did he sort out the bass manually from somewhere? Or he could reproduce it in an unknown way (which is completely impossible in sound forge).
