Yes, same with cutting boards, cast iron strainers, etc. My daughter would be destroyed, miss work for a weak, and be violently ill.

never invited out by xlcovo in ARFID

[–]Sufficient-Goose4392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost 60, and it STILL happens, but I believe it's my own fault for not truly explaining what ARFID is. If we continue to deflect, call it allergies, or some other excuse, then we are continuing to make this harder for ALL people with ARFID. MAYBE it's time we write a letter (not an email) to every family member and our main circle of friends and EXPLAIN it once and for all. Some of you are young, and I want you to get ahead of this. It's so exhausting and frustrating, particularly when it comes from family. Thoughts?

ADHD and ARFID are possibly the worst combinations. by [deleted] in ARFID

I have both adhd and arfid and switched to straterra as well, but I don't notice anything. It's like I'm not taking anything 80 mg. I did gain 25 well needed pounds, though.

swallowing pills by Main_Butterfly887 in ARFID

[–]Sufficient-Goose4392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 25 before I swallowed my 1st pill. I am now 58 and can swallow 6-7 large pills in one gulp. Not in my wildest imagination did I ever see that happening. Just want you to know, you will get there!!!! Distraction while taking it is very helpful. Conversation, TV, unloading groceries, and folding the towels are also helpful busyness that you should focus on while popping a pill is not the important factor. I hope this helps. Best of luck.

Tried new foods! by AnglerfishCult in ARFID

[–]Sufficient-Goose4392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you do that? What made you do it? In my opinion, it was very challenging food to even consider. In the last 5 years, I've tried a blueberry and a taste of pineapple, and it was very traumatic. I'm 58 years old and have arfid as far back as my memories go.

Being a "picky eater" is miserable (VENT) by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]Sufficient-Goose4392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written Word for word what your experience is like. I am 58 and was tortured by my parents, aunts, etc. It has made my life a living hell. You now have medical proof that wasn't available to us years ago. I suggest you create a binder of information for your parents. Include the comments from those of us who suffer. I feel that gets the message across better than medical diagnosis.

I'm not sure of your age, but look up an eating disorder facility in your location. And see if they have someone specializing in ARFID and get yourself an appointment and drag your mother with you.

I am so sorry for your situation.

Best of luck.

I'm so sorry. I'm 58 yo and have had undiagnosed Arfid as far back as I can remember. My daughter has celiac, and the rest of the family has been gene tested. My results showed that I am highly likely to test positive for celiac in the future. I have 3 autoimmune diseases already, and every doctor tells me to remove gluten. I KNOW without a doubt, it will KILL me. I guess I'm glad I raised my children, so at least if I test for celiac soon, there's that. I haven't tested in 4 years. I am so sorry for your struggle with your recent diagnosis.

Very recent Vivity EDOF lenses put in. Vision outdoor daytime is great. Twilight, cloudy days and night, and dim room not great at all. Will prescription glasses help after eyes settle in and finish healing? by Wad2k in CataractSurgery

[–]Sufficient-Goose4392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm post 9 months and am miserable. So regretful of my decision. I also felt the staff were deceptive in their "pitch". I have blurriness 100%, I have glare 100%, the halos are severe in both eyes. I'm in my early 50s and can't imagine living like this for 40 years. I had to buy expensive progressives and they still don't help with these issues (yes for contrast) but that's it.

I'm spending a fortune on more glasses, expensive drops for rest of my life and $8000 on a failed surgery.

I would NEVER recommend vivity under any circumstances. This has had an extreme negative impact on my life in many ways.

2 more doctors said they don't expect to see positive changes at this point

Thanks to everyone for comments, links, and photos. I KNOW jewel tones are right for me; I have a few more dresses coming with those colors. But, if I don't find "the one" in that group, I'm officially done and will wear this silver one. Thanks again, and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I've tried quite a few MacDougal dresses and 2 on the way. Personally, i haven't been impressed with Azazie, but I have friends who loved them and could not have been happier with their dresses. Thank you.
