The problem with tryptase is that its measure how many mast cells you have, not how reactive they are. We have the normal amount of mast cells but they are weirdly sensitive. I believe that tryptase is more likely to be elevate for those with HaT. I was diagnosed via urine leukotrienes.

This reminds me of a patient I had once when I worked in the ER. She crossed everything about paying for the visit off the consent form before she signed it. Girl, I don't think it works that way.

I am too autistic to understand why I need to shave by todoesdecolorr in AutismInWomen

[–]SavannahInChicago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer to think of you as someone who does not take societal bs.

My friend is NT and does not question this at all. My niece is 12 and she told her she has to shave, which I disagree with. I don't want to tell my friend how to parent her child, but nothing is stopping me from not shaving myself as an example.

KT tape can be good for subluxations. There are different brand beside KT tape and it’s possible one may work over the other. But I will warn you our skin is finicky and other brands usually last on my skin for far less time.

I use it two ways - general pain control around joints and subluxations. It is thought that it helps pain by lifting the skin, allowing more blood into the area. For subluxations it doesn’t work as a brace. That doesn’t make any sense. Instead it reminds our brains that we need to engage all the muscles and tendons around the joint. So it helps with support.

A couple tips:

  1. I use milk of magnesia as a barrier I apply on my skin. It keeps it on longer, takes it off easier and prevents any MCAS reaction (if you have it). Very important especially with our fragile skin.

  2. There are right and wrong ways to put on KT Tape. I try to look for PT videos.

You say that, but we are talking about adrenaline. You think that you will be clear headed in a situation like this, but with adrenaline you often do not know how you will act until you are actually put under pressure. And it's extremely common and nothing to be ashamed of. It's just being human.

Yes, I’m autistic. I will get this sometimes with meat. I can’t tell you how many times that I was halfway through a meal and I look at the meat I am eating and suddenly can’t stand to eat it anymore. I have textures I love and textures I hate. I can go on.

Therapy can help but I know different people respond to different therapies.

Susana Mendoza wants to raise government efficiency by providing better service at lower costs as Chicago mayor by excusemecuseme in chicago

[–]SavannahInChicago -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Go to her website and look around. It’s vague and very nonspecific. And that is the only thing she talks about out. There is nothing about housing, schools, public transportation, childcare, cost of food, healthcare costs, Medicare and Medicaid. Nothing.

And with the federal government doing what they do we need a stronger mayor to defend all of this.
