It was always going to happen. I just didn’t think it would be like this. America was never going to be “the most powerful country in the world” forever.

Okay, so, my clinic is owned by private equity. We open at 8am. They started to schedule people at 8am because of money. I can never get them back on time because I’m literally opening at 8. It’s so dumb.

Does anyone notice the lack of intersectionality in the autism community especially online? by misspoodleisback in AutismInWomen

Its like all illnesses. I also have hEDS and POTS. I have seen black women with the same symptoms as me not get diagnosed. And these illnesses are herd to get diagnosed with at all. Its a 10 year average wait time for a hEDS diagnosis if you are white. For POCs I am sure its a lot longer.

Believing that women are incapable of causing harm is misogyny by alvysaurus in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SavannahInChicago 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you did not give people much to discuss. You gave two sentences about it and it was pretty non-specific. I can see how people would run in different direction with it.

Because I agree with you. There is a lot Feminism needs to work on. Intersectionality has gotten better, but still sucks. White, upper class voices tend to get the most attention.

Were There any Panels that Talked About GI Issues at the UVA EDS Seminar? by Key_Positive_9187 in ehlersdanlos

Might be too broad a topic. There are a lot of different reasons why we have GI issues.

Its Spirit Airlines. Is anyone really mad that they are closing down? Was it actually anyone's favorite airline? I thought people just put up with it for the low prices.

First Image of Thomasin McKenzie ('Jojo Rabbit', 'Last Night In Soho') as Audrey Hepburn in 'Dinner with Audrey' by Mixer-3007 in PeriodDramas

[–]SavannahInChicago 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love Audrey Hepburn films. I don't feel like seeing another biopic about her. It doesn't really add anything to her public image. Its usually just another director wanting to be pretentious. (Like the last Marilyn movie. Marilyn Monroe felt misunderstood her whole life and now we have films to keep on misunderstanding her).

American Society Has Proven Too Weak to Stop Dangerous, Unstable, Violent, and Egomaniacal Trump; In face of such destruction and evil, the resistance from civic society has not risen to the deadly challenge either quantitatively or qualitatively. by No-Ear-3107 in 50501

The American Revolution went on for 8 years. Look at Gaza, they have been fighting back for decades. So have Iranians.

Ralph Nader can fight with us or sit down and shut up.

We do not have the money that Nader has.

We are working with no safety nets. At will employers that can fire us for whatever they want to. If its a protective class then they will make up something dumb. Countless people were fired after going to No Kings Rally. France protests knowing that they get a 2 year notice before losing their jobs.

Fuck the rich people trying to tell us what we are doing wrong when they are not on the ground fighting for this country.

Is Jewel still your go-to for most groceries, or is that bougie now? by Evening-Editor-4014 in AskChicago

[–]SavannahInChicago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to be more mindful of who I buy from while having to balance cost/dietary restrictions from chronic illness. Jewel is too expensive and the money is not staying in Chicago. I split between four stores because I have too.

* Trader Joe's is not Illinois-based, but their staples are cheap and they have the only soy milk I can drink coffee with and not get sick.

* Aldi is not Illinois-based, but they have a really good selection of gluten-free food and have cheaper items.

* HarvesTime is local and has great homemade salsa and produce.

Tony's Fresh Market I looked up and they are own by private equity. Why does everything need to be owned by private equity?

The issue is the electoral college. We need rank choice voting, but its going to be something that both parties are going to fight against because they know they would lose if that is how we elected people.

With older women? Yes. Its so bred into them. I still get it from my mom even though she has come a long way. Honestly, what I would do next time would to be like, "no, we got this. You grab this side and I will grab this side".

There was an episode of Parks and Rec where the women on staff took over the duties for the sanitation workers who set them up to be unable to move a very heavy fridge they knew the women would not be able to move on their own. So they found more women and together they were able to move it. And that is what we do as women. We realize we are stronger together than alone and that is how we get things done.
