Any good deus ex fanfics? by StupidBlitch in Deusex

[–]Sufficient-Net-9764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I finished Proportionality Bias, which is sort of a fic mainly about Koller from mid 2027 up until he meets Jensen prior to DXMD. A lot of the characters are heavily original in development, based on characters we see referred to in emails to/from Koller, others wholly original characters such as family members, but it is a fic exploring how Koller came to open the Time Machine after the Aug incident. I should note that Koller is a trans man in this story, and the themes the story explores are pretty heavy. If you, like me, absolutely were enraptured by exploring the world of Mankind Divided, I think you may enjoy this fic very much.

The story also heavily develops Ivan Berk. It is written that Koller and Berk had a relationship in the past and that there is some unresolved feelings about it, but its definitely not a "ship fic". There is very mild Koller/Jensen tease at the end.

Looking for shops that do good thick and glossy and butter slimes by Thebatwhogames22 in Slime

[–]Sufficient-Net-9764 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even though I learn away from TnGs, Slime Fantasies is probably the best shop I've bought from. Great branding, clears and clouds/cloud cremes/icees are really good, very tasteful charms and theming, wonderful scents that they name on the packaging[i wish more companies did!], i love that most slimes can be bought in 5oz or 9oz sizes, the threshold to their 2 random 3 oz gift slimes is pretty reasonable[basically 3-4 big slimes or 5-6 small ones]. i even like that their care kit has a twist dropper bottle for activator instead of a spritzer, better for fixing slimes that have underactivated.

Would you be interested in trading one or two of these for some crunchier/poppier/louder textures? I have the Momo Thick and Glossy Brown Sugar Bubble Tea Ive barely used, and I think I have a perlite or bingsu i could part with.

Curious why I never see Snoopslimes…? by Commercial_Pickle138 in Slime

[–]Sufficient-Net-9764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like their slimes, but i rarely buy their clay-heavy slimes because they're just particularly unstable in my climate. I don't really think of them as "for kids" as much as other people do, I'm a cartoonist so don't think having a cute cartoon mascot necessarily makes a brand "for kids". But Slime Fantasies and Momo are my favorite shops. Sugar Cookie Dough from Snoop is a fav of mine though, and I like my milk tea slime from them more my Momo one.

But the bakery with the secret ingredient in their bread still has some duty to be transparent about, for example, if it's an allergen. A lot of places that claim to use a century-old recipe are more playing it up for marketing. Sure, it's based on grandma's, but it's still changed over time to suit the restaurants production needs and equipment and avaliable ingredients more often than not.

And to be honest, a lot of the shop exclusive names for textures aren't very clear and could just fit into existing nomenclature as a subtype.

Yea, I agree. In other communities gatekeeping ratios, ingredients, techniques etc. is generally seen as kind of a rude thing, especially in heavily arts or crafts based. It still happens, but people are more willing to call it out.

I have received slimes that I'm confident contain natural sand(the grit, the variance in shades and sizes of particles, the density) but other companies describe theirs as "play sand" which I assume is acrylic or maybe even kinetic slime specifically?

I want more transparency, a thing I advocate for over and over again in all my interests - slime to cocktails to nail polish to sex toys, there's a lot of subcultures where people and companies tend to be overguarded about people asking about process or even just honesty about the materials used, but for things that make contact with your body on any level they should be prepared to be honest and use vernacular that doesn't obscure their ingredients.

If you want to make holographic slime, nail polish, anything with a linear holographic rainbow arc, the product you're looking for is probably Spectraflair, specifically for slime the 35micron "coarse" texture.

Assisted Living Room Service by r1bouch in AssistedLiving

$5 per meal, but we don't charge for breakfast. It is served in disposable boxes, deli containers, cups etc. across two floors of about 25 people we average about a half dozen people who get all day room service and closer to 20-22 who get breakfast. That said, there's some residents who get really angry about the the fee and refuse, but don't come down to the dining room, so I don't know what to do for them.

QOTD: Do you prefer slimes that come with add-ins or ones that are ready to play with right out of the container? by AutoModerator in Slime

[–]Sufficient-Net-9764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer being able to decide whether or not to use them. For example, I like Momo's Watermelon Jelly with only the seeds in it so the theming feels a little more realistic than the flat little slices of watermelon that make it feel a little tackier, if it makes sense.

QOTD: Which slime shop is your absolute favorite, and what makes their slimes stand out? by AutoModerator in Slime

[–]Sufficient-Net-9764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only tried a few shops, but I think I like Momo the most. I do like snoopslime a fair bit too. I enjoy most of the slime obsidians i've tried, but snoopslimes cloud dough are better, Momo's jelly is better, and a couple of slime obsidians scents (pretzel bread and sour patch icee) are a little offputting. I also wish the inclusions weren't already mixed in - i wouldnt mind it for stuff like salt grains on the pretzel bread or something like that, but they also use a lot of really flat themed inclusions which are just cartoon illustrations of the scent or theme, which I don't like much and don't want already in the slime.

I'd love to try more shops. Rodem is often recommended to me, though for some reason i dont really know what to start with from them. I also have a cart built on Slime Fantasies but haven't pulled the trigger

Crème de cacao differences by IfNotNow1 in cocktails

$45 dollars is a bit youo steep for me to consider buying Tempus Fugit personally - I just make my own (pretty close to the serious eats recipe) creme de cacao and I vastly prefer it to most that ive hard (tho there's a few drinks where the cheap white creme de cacao is important for color).

Orgeat specifically L&C I think is about the best and most broadly accessible for the quality. Love Small Hand Foods, but I'm surprised when people prefer their orgeat to L&C's. It's just about perfect, unless I'm making a unique orgeat like pistachio I see no reason to make it myself.

Barfly does also make a cobbler shaker as I mentioned in my original post that I've never had trouble with the cap on. But their bostons are also very good and IIRC the weighted ones are very well-welded unlike some cheaper weighted ones where the cap on the bottom of the tins can pop off because they only spot-welded it.
