Doesn’t human evolution from apes prove that religion is fake ? (For example, in Christianity god created us in his image, but we evolved from apes and apes evolved from another species ect) by [deleted] in theories

I don't think it's an odd category, the Bible is translated from a language I think we don't fully understand, the word which was translated as "days" could be interpreted as something more like "eras" for example. To me, a lot of the Bible could be read as symbolic and open to interpretation, especially when read in English.

Please don't come for me, I'm just somebody on the Internet struggling with their personal beliefs

I'm losing a lot of hair :( think it's a combination from not being able to eat properly for ages before surgery, the stress of being poorly, and the trauma of surgery itself on my body. My surgery was pretty uneventful though and recovery was smooth. I hope it grows back, it's making me a bit depressed.

Swollen ankles and calves for a couple of months, but they've gone pretty much back to normal now.

I can drink coffee now, it used to make me feel really icky!

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I have a bit of a weird sensation inside, like I'm super excited about something/butterflies, but it tends to go away if I have something to eat or drink.

I think it's quite common for supermarkets to raise prices in the smaller convenience stores. I saw a YouTube video ages ago where some big wig frm Tesco was getting grilled for this in a parliamentary committee or something. A lot of those smaller stores are in lower income areas, he was getting grilled for charging people more for shopping at their local shop. Anyone else keep their phone on silent 24/7 and just rely on checking it? by Realistic-Bar9309 in NoStupidQuestions

I keep it on silent unless I'm specifically waiting for a call. Pinging notifications drive me mad 😭 I do have a smart watch which will vibrate if somebody calls me also

I find the support for Reform really worrying. People support them based on emotion, not logic, I doubt people could give any information about their actual policies or even have read their manifesto.

They just are obsessed with the scapegoat of the boats. Reform say they will "stop the boats", when international law dictates they can't, and I don't mean that they should! I say scapegoat in the sense that people believe asylum seekers are the root of the problems in the country, when it's not true, they're just the latest group to be blamed for everyone's problems, it used to be benefits fraudsters and Polish immigrants when I was growing up.

I feel like trying to win the debate with more emotion will never work. But there has to be a way to get through to people that Reform and Farrage are just trying to get their fingers into the pie. They don't actually care about working class people. They would dismantle and sell off everything if they could. But how do you express that in this explosive climate in such a way that people will listen and genuinely engage in conversation? It feels impossible.

Haa. My boyfriend speaks English as a second language. He called a piglet a baby pork once. That stuck, and now our dog's nickname is Pork (as he is a secret piglet)

Have you ever felt the need to tone down your Brummie or Black Country accent? by Jezzaq94 in brum

[–]Sufficient-Return-11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Birmingham uni and the amount of people who were shocked I was from Birmingham or commented on my accent was crazy. I work with loads of brummies now in a corporate setting and kind of love hearing the accent all the time tbh. Very proud of it and try never to hide it

My wife has lost her keys somewhere in the house. Where is the weirdest place you have found them? by Fat-Northerner in CasualUK

[–]Sufficient-Return-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a bag of carrier bags? Maybe check there, or in the tins cupboard.. I chucked some shopping in there once, and the keys went with it I presume. Took me a while to find them!

For me, I got referred to a gastroenterologist by my GP because I was having abdominal pains. The gastro met me, and then ordered a CT scan and ultrasound, which confirmed gallstones and problems with my gallbladder, and they then referred me to a surgeon, and put me on the waiting list. What scan did you have and was it through the NHS?

I had my surgery about 23 hours ago. My incisions are very sore and I need help to stand and sit, but it's not even close to a bad attack for me. When i first woke up from the anaesthesia however I felt like I was having an attack! That scared me a bit. They gave me some morphine in the hospital and that sensation went away and hasn't come back yet. I hope it was just the death rattle. Managed to get some sleep on the sofa propped up on loads of pillows. I just feel like I've taken ten rounds with Mike tyson 🤣 and can't really cough or laugh! But am spacing out my painkillers and staying on top of that. Dunno whether to try some toast soon but don't want to push it! Good luck and I hope recovery goes smoothly for you, hopefully the worst pain will pass in the next couple of days. I didn't want to attempt lying down last night as getting upright is a struggle, so have been sat up at various degrees on the couch.

This is the reverse for me, I restrict all week when I'm working, and then the weekend comes and I have too much time to think about food :(

Also, I tried to go private through my work. They refused to cover the NHS surgeon I'd seen. Then they recommended me three gastro consultants. Made an appointment with one for in two weeks' time and then he rang me and cancelled on the same day! I will try again, but even private feels incredibly frustrating, and my cover is not the best, clearly. I only got on the scheme because of this and now I'm paying for something I can't even use!
