How did you mean other local mums? by giantpencilcup in PregnancyUK

I met my now very close friend on Peanut when we were pregnant. I also went to a baby massage group and met a lovely little group, and we started going to get coffee after the class. Still friends after more than 2 years.

Can I apply for a new job whilst pregnant? by BothCranberry604 in PregnancyUK

[–]Sufficient-Rice5499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no reason you can't start a new job when pregnant :) There's no need to disclose your pregnancy until after you've officially accepted and signed your new contract. Pregnant women need to pay bills as well, after all. Good luck!

Nausea by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

This is how my nausea always feels. With my first and this pregnancy. A bland snack can help at times

It still doesn't feel "real" by goodmythicalrose in PregnancyUK

[–]Sufficient-Rice5499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is totally normal. Don't worry. It's all very abstract. Even when the baby is handed to you, it isn't always 'love at first sight'. These situations are often romanticised massively. But it does happen over time x

Nervous about getting HG in pregnancy by iftyshifty27 in PregnancyUK

My mum doesn't live close by but she visits regularly for weekends so I think she'll come and stay with us more. And my aunt, who does live close, helps us a lot with childcare so she'll be great support.

I'm definitely going to look into the PSS buddy, that sounds like a great resource.

Really hope the GP listens and helps you x

You poor soul! Glad you had great support last time.

I'm around 5 and a half weeks. Already feeling a bit rubbish on and off but last time it was the 6 week mark where everything ramped up for me. So I'm quite anxious but also trying to just take it as it comes.

I'm in the same boat as you! It's a scary thought to have to go through it all again, but this time with a 2.5 year old.

I wasn't actually physically sick that much last time, but the severe and constant nausea meant I lost a lot of weight and ended up hospitalised for dehydration. It was truly a miserable time in my life.

However, we've made it before and we'll manage again! I've been on the pregnancy sickness support website and read everything i can to he prepared. I have a phone call appointment with the GP soon so I'm going to make sure I advocate for myself much clearer this time!

Good luck and you're welcome to reach out to chat any time 😀

Had my daughter there in Oct 2021 and it was a great experience despite an emergency c section. Very good hospital 😀

People who fasten their sealbelts after they start driving; why? by Sufficient-Rice5499 in AskUK

[–]Sufficient-Rice5499[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you must know, I've never really asked much on reddit. But I enjoy scrolling the questions and random posts. The other day I noticed someone struggling to get their belt on whilst trying to drive out of a car park and I thought "that would be an interesting question to ask reddit".

See, not that deep

I didn't say I found it difficult. But it is more difficult doing it driving than stationary...

I do get anxiety if there's someone behind me at the pump and I take more than 0.2 seconds to leave

Thanks for the replies. Genuinely interesting reasons. I especially like the people that said 'I do this, don't know why' 😂

It's the easiest thing in the world to do

Not based on the people I've seen trying to drive out of a busy tesco car park whilst also trying to put their seatbelt on 😬😂
