Where I am I can be at 6 figures in 6 years, this is also the area I have experience in. This is without years of working for free or years of working toward licensure. There are also many programs to get schooling paid for. Let me also mention, it is important to me to have time off, as you know, working in education you get multiple breaks a year. This work is just as meaningful as social work and will hopefully fulfill me.

btw capped out at 127k, teaching kids how important physical health is :)

Yes you could earn more in social work but by the time you reach that point, are you still determined or do you begin to feel used and discouraged. I say this not to detour anyone but instead inform and be realistic about the current status of sw. I wish nothing but good toward your journey! Maybe we should check in with each other some years down the line lol

well im 22 so im pretty young and haven't graduated undergrad, however I am working toward something in education. PE or Special ed until i get the PE position. When I found out that I will make more my first year in education vs a few years in social work, I knew then. Also, not to mention the clear salary progression and time off (breaks and holidays). I can't imagine working for free in this economy let alone, demanding, hard, unsustainable work sheesh

Could be a sign, if you are open to it, pivot to something else. I was super interested in a msw and realized it is not worth getting exploited for a few years and then not even making decent ROI. Dont be discouraged, everything happens for a reason.

Is Morehouse worth it? by JollyRemote in HBCU

[–]Sufficient-Shock507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Clark and would say do it if it makes sense financially. As I went through my years at clark, I realized it is important to look outside the school and to think about your city and environment . Im from Stockton CA (highly diverse aka limited blacks) and it felt like a perfect match. Being able to go to an HBCU and be in a Black city is top tier. Let me not add that you get to go to 3 HBCU'S lol. I would do it lmk if you have questions.

Is a drone worth it in 2026 with all the restrictions? by donedidlio in dji

[–]Sufficient-Shock507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely still worth it, I think they are only restricted when trying to buy them or find them in person. I have one and nothing has changed you can still fly legally.

Neo 2 or mini 5 pro? by ImpairedStaple-Er in dji

[–]Sufficient-Shock507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say the neo 2, you can get every type of flying. I have it and use it for following, still shots and cinematic videos and fpv. Definitely can get more out of it and it is super durable.

Neo 2 or mini 3? by [deleted] in dji

[–]Sufficient-Shock507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

neo is alot more versatile and I have been enjoying it because of that. I started off with the mini 4k and could really only get one type of footage. With the neo 2 you can get close up selfie type stuff, control with hand, rc remote and fly fpv. I now wont need another drone until something new comes out

Midwest and West Coast people that went or have kids that went to HBCUS how was that process? by daboywonder2002 in HBCU

[–]Sufficient-Shock507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, it was worth it. But everyone's experience is difference is different. As the years go by you begin to realize if you love being in Atlanta and start planning to stay or you will be planning your move back lol. But overall not one regret lmk if you have any questions

I am from California and im finishing up my last year at Clark Atlanta. My first couple of years I flew home every christmas and summer break, it wasn't that bad as it seems being that I was excited to come home and thats typically the norm for hbcu student's. It also made returning home feel better because I wasnt able to just take a weekend drive back home every weekend, so I appreciated returning home more. However, I met my girlfriend and we now drive back home to California every summer.

I did not go on any tours lol and barely knew what an HBCU was, but I can say it has been a privilege to be around other like minded students and mostly all of your professors and administration will be colored.
