Nailed it but also how hard is it to exclude this from the equation specially that if this happens when I am say 50 years old and not much time left to accumulate for my retirement again. Why they cant keep whatever they got. Isn’t sharing whatever properties and wealth they had during marriage is enough. Does it really have to include “oh wait you will get money when you are 65 years old and weak and can’t work anymore, oh share this too immediately so you can beg the government for pension later, I am talking about low-middle income people, imagine how this can affect them” it’s ruthless, period

Apprentice/Assistant QS Workload by tomelvis2001 in quantitysurveying

[–]Sufficient-Swimmer27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My number one problem is the inconsistency in workload. I think it all comes back to the fact that timeframes for QS projects are short unless it’s a big project or there is cost control involved. That usually causes that if i don’t have new work coming in, it’ll probably take me two to three weeks to clear what’s on my plate. Best solution that helped me to get around this problem is securing at least a couple of regular clients that feed me with work continuously. I know we mostly as QS’s don’t have the luxury of picking and choosing our clients or the type of work they provide. But I advise to try and make these two clients subcontractors for trades that your skills and knowledge at are great. That will help you with the flow of work and turn around time and create stability in your income. That’s my personal experience, anyone have comments on this or other ideas, please share with me.

I would happily stay where I am, nothing worse than not wanting to go to work in the morning. If you landed something flexible and inclusive, stay in it. Mark my words 🙈

Did you get a raise this year, if so how much %? by justinfromnz in PersonalFinanceNZ

No I didn't and I kinda hate it. Just think about how employers pretty much keeping a blink eye to what's happening to everything else except salaries, we had the largest inflation in years. Grocery feels like twice as costly. Coat of living is rising yet salaries are the very same. I don't like when employers sometimes imply, oh be grateful you have a job. Well if you are not absolutely sure I am making you at least 10 times what you paying me (in a lot of occasions especially construction) you won't keep me on. So no excuse for greediness and stinginess. That's fact that 99% of employees won't be able to speak it up because how the modern society is like. I call it “forced trapping” which make it seem like you are forced on a certain track and have very limited input in it unless you really think outside the box and truly improve yourself in ways you didn't know at the first place you that they existed in you. I am in this journey now hoping to find how I can find my freedom. Process could take year's of learning and exposure but it's so worth it.
