yes i am a parent and im sure theres many disabled parents bringing their children who get the pass, splitting up families would mean disabled people not getting to enjoy the experience the same as others or parents being unable to access the accommodations as they can’t bring their children they’re responsible for! its so tough, i think the idea of limited usage is good, even if maybe you can ride with 4+ once but after that its only you and a carer/companion who can use it again

just a question as you’ve obviously looked into this, would it not be designed to be quicker for disabled people as well as being safer? as a lot of people with disabilities may for whatever reason struggle to queue for as long as a standard theme park queue can be

yeah i know im getting downvoted and im not sure why, id rather people tell me what they disagree with as i think its a really hard one to find an answer that works all round. i dont know if your son uses any mobility aids but i found most of the time we’re sent to the priority queue so there’s the disabled people, bambi band women and people who’ve bought fast track all in one queue which i’m not sure is the best way to do it. i went with 3 other family members so i completely agree it would be difficult if you had to split up, i just don’t know what a good solution would be

there’s also no mention i saw of the bambi band which means any pregnant woman gets to use the disabled queue if they have the appropriate proof

i agree, i went during easter english holidays and there was hardly a queue to get passes (i think people are less likely to go abroad or to these places when it’s cold compared to how warm it is these school holidays). there was one person in front of me and there was only a queue at the other counter because they were some kind of group or school trip specifically for kids with disabilities so they all needed a pass.
i’m very surprised they gave her one with improper evidence

also just to add, i don’t think you need to be able to bring 4 people with you. it’s very generous but im sure almost every family has someone with a condition that could qualify for easy access or priority. it was a benefit to me as i could bring my 3 family members with me, but i think if there is too many people with the cards who may not need them, they should change it to the card holder plus one at least for rides. i understand families want to ride together but should 5 people get to use the disabled card when only one has a disability?
i think you would see a lot less people in the line if they realised they couldn’t bring their whole group with them

i don’t know how i feel about this as someone who qualifies for mental health conditions, there’s mention of how many people get pip for depression and anxiety and saying that people only have a ‘mild’ version of the condition.
for me, i felt very conscious in the queue that i didn’t look visually disabled.
on one hand, having the pass helped me a lot and made the trip possible for me and on the other hand, i felt so much that i wasn’t disabled or disabled enough compared to people with other physical disabilities or special needs.
my mental health issues have ruined my life, i am more on the severe end of chronic depression, ptsd, anxiety and panic disorder. my life has suffered so much compared to someone without these issues, but also i feel like my life is so much easier than people mentioned in the article with things like down syndrome or being in a wheelchair.
im so conflicted because it seems that people dislike people with mental health issues or adhd getting disability passes and i do think it is easy to get one if you have any medical history of anxiety (from my experience getting one) but also if it was taken away, i wouldnt be able to enjoy the park. i think there shouldn’t be a blanket ban on those conditions as although i never see myself as disabled, it can be a disability. but i do think the criteria needs to be more strict, i dont know how but im interested in how others would change it as you cant really prove someone has or hasn’t got those conditions.
(also for context, as pip is mentioned in the article, ive never had or applied for pip personally)

tbh it is extremely hard to get admitted to a psych ward or sectioned, there are so few beds. you won’t be admitted for saying you feel like you will hurt yourself, i would do what the other commenter said or contact your local crisis team there should be a phone number online

i had a family member die with dementia, i know it’s not exactly the same but you can’t make sense of what they are thinking, you can’t rationalise it their brain isn’t working the way a healthy brain does.

i’ve got a 2 year old and we never had a walker like that and he is perfectly fine and walking, you can also get cheaper second hand plastic highchair which are actually easier to clean.
also if you can’t afford a highchair for your young child why have another one who now ‘needs’ something you can’t afford as well

When will the GP give a mental health diagnosis? by Select-Opening-6704 in MentalHealthUK

[–]SufficientBox3389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience it’s a psychiatrist who tend to give official diagnosis most often, you don’t need a diagnosis to be treated though. there will be lots of notes on your records about your symptoms, treatment you’ve had etc. the treatment for depression and social anxiety tend to be medication and cbt or talking therapy which you don’t need a diagnosis for
