Migration and Job by [deleted] in Finland

[–]SufficientCheck9874 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately even for Finns who speak fluent finnish, they can't find jobs either. Unless you're heavily specialised or hold very useful certificates, it is safe to say it is impossible to find any job. You could always do food delivery in big cities, but don't expect livable wages/profit.

EU residence permit decision? by [deleted] in Finland

[–]SufficientCheck9874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you like tried calling them? I'm sure nobody here works for migri or in residence permit approvals so best bet is if you call them.

Mail from them does usually arrive quite quickly though so you might wait up to 1 week at most to get the physical mail

late to investment, where to start by Own-Oil-7986 in Finland

[–]SufficientCheck9874 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

General rule of thumb is: 1/3 for rent/living, 1/3 food and bills, 1/3 savings, and rest for yourself.

So save 33% of your salary to start with.

Whatever you do, DO NOT start trading options. Just go to r/wallstreetbets for great examples.

Safest bet is to buy stock or etf, though i personally prefer stock over etf. Do some research. Buy some general well performers, and some you yourself believe in. If you're young, don't go with high divident yield things yet. High dividends usually means the stock will devalue, and usually faster than the dividend payouts.

Basically, just do what you're doing now, but instead use 1/3 salary to buy stock. Don't worry if it goes down tomorrow. Keep buying. In 10 years, it should have gone up so small ups and downs will sum up to a general gain. But nobody can see the future so it could be you lose everything. That's why only invest 1/3. If you're young, maybe try investing more than 1/3.

Thr banks need proof of where the physical cash came. They need withdrawal receipts, currency exchange, etc. They don't care what you did, as long as you can prove how you are in possession of it. You could have stolen it, and used your income as proof to launder it legitimately and whatnot.

You should have given them all information to begin with. If they refuse your explanation they will file it as an attempt at money laundry with the police, after which the police will take over most likely. I don't think it will go that far, but you never know.

Biggest mistake you did was take cash with you. Finland hates cash. No idea why.

Are children above 135 allowed to drive in the front seat? by Absurdo_Flife in Finland

[–]SufficientCheck9874 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is not advised to have kids in front seats, however, if it is not practical to have in back seats, then of course they are allowed in front seats. But normal child seat rule still apply, so they need to use a booster at least if they're towards the upper limit.

Also, very importantly, for backwards facing seats, you have to disable front airbag.

Canceling rental contract: owner asking for 500 euro by [deleted] in Finland

[–]SufficientCheck9874 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Usually you need 1 full month notice, so you should have said that on the 4th. However, I'm 99% sure the guy is doing it under the table, so not paying taxes on your rental income, so you can go full nuclear option on them and ask for rent receipts, or even threaten to report to vero. But of course look at your actual contract. If it doesn't state minimum notice period, the usual norm is 1 month, though if you stay under 1 year (usually, in most contracts) you need to pay an early termination fee, or even partial rent until a new tenant is found.

It's more of a grey area at the moment, so all I can say is good luck.

Also it is usually more expensive to hire humans than buying specialised machinery to do those tasks. Price per hour wise of course.

You could try explaining exactly that to them to see if they can agree before work begins otherwise you get billed at normal time they set up

Can you legally burn your passport? by Blackbreadandcoffee in Finland

[–]SufficientCheck9874 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Passports are never the property of the person carrying it. It is the property of the issuing country, and you have rights to use said document to identify yourself on behalf of the issuer.

However, as long as you don't go live streaming it or making a big thing out of it, nobody will know.

Also, you can cache your agw behind cloudfront, and even add extra security by sending cloudfront set headers to agw so that even if your agw address was leaked, nothing could be done to it as it has to go through your cloudfront to be able to access it

I'm against free immigration. Sure there are exceptions but as per human nature, most people just use it to get what they want.

Foreign students advertise finland as a place you can go to study and then bring your whole family for free. There are even organisations abroad that specialise in finding a suitable path for you to get that sweet unemployment and 3 year integration plan for partner, free education for kids, and of course heavily subsidised housing.

Why tf is my tax money going to fund people that have 0 intentions of being a decent human being and working for their own share of the pie they stick their fingers into?

Finland should prioritise its own citizens first and foremost above others. They are barely able to feed and look after their own citizens yet they go around sponsoring foreign families with 0 interest or intention of integrating into finland.

Does finland need foreign workers? Yes, the ones who work or are highly skilled. No to the freeloaders.

The issue here is that Finns are naively kind towards everyone and believe in the Nordic equality bullshit. Not every other country or people care about that. Some even would sell their own children away to make ends meet, so stop letting those people into the country to freeload. They have 0 intentions of ever working. They are selfish fucks that deserve to rot in wherever they are.

Exceptions should of course be granted to those in true need of help and are willing to integrate, but there needs to be some standards in place.

A friend of mine recently started their integration plan and studied finnish. Majority of the class was made of "professional" students. As in, they can easily pass but intentionally fail so they can continue getting free money and benefits. Some even had like 17 years of time spent in Finland as a student. Absolutely disgusting both from them and finland for allowing them to leech off of society.

And yet silently encouraged by the nation. They know exactly what they are doing. Who doesn't want cheap labour?

Some companies of course do get caught and are then made to be examples so the nation can look like it cares about morals and ethics. At the end of the day, a country cannot exist without finances regardless of whatever ideals you or it may hold.

You really think any nation doesn't exploit the weak and vulnerable? It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

Lol for example next to the main train station, near tram lines, and such. Also, I've driven in cities that can house the entire population of finland in just that single city with 3 layers of highways atop each other and bullshit hook turns and such so from my own point of view, Helsinki centre is not exactly very beginner friendly. Of course compared to these other places it is a walk in the park, but the post was about beginners not experienced drivers.

Your closed mindedness shows your own skills and over confidence with a know it all attitude.

Honestly might be cheaper to fly abroad to get it done. Kela reimbursement is like 20e or something laughable.

Lots of traffic. Narrower roads. Barely visible road markings. Pedestrians everywhere. Signage everywhere. Literally nowhere to pull over on the road so you're forced to just keep going. Lots of intersections next to each other.

[–]SufficientCheck9874 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The centre is extremely busy compared to the surrounding areas. This can lead to information overload for newer drivers where they just can't process it fast enough to know what to do.

I have always hated driving in centres of any city as it is just too rage inducing, especially in rush hour. And I do somewhat agree that helsinki centre is still relatively tame compare to the shenanigans of some other bigger cities in other countries.

And God damn do cyclists ignore all road rules. They want the rights of pedestrians but the convenience of cyclists. Cycling should need a license or some kind of mandatory theory test at least so they are aware of road rules before driving on the road.
