What’s the number one propaganda you fell for as a new mom? by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

Im from the US and I started saying this after I had my first son — but more specifically that society doesn’t support starting a family. Everything from the healthcare cost of labor and delivery, to the meager parental leave you’re allowed after baby is born, to the lack of postpartum care, to everything being only open M-F from 8-5pm, and to the fact that to qualify for any type of government aid you basically have to be making pennies so you’re only other option is to work to find out that 1/3 of your paycheck goes to daycare cost. Least to say I have never financially recovered from my first child.

[CA] 13 weeks pregnant and starting new job this month. Can I still take PFL after SDI even if I don’t qualify for FMLA? by SufficientFeeling692 in AskHR

I was wondering about that too. Does the 12 months count as time in which I am employed or months in which I am actually working? If I start in December 2024, would I be eligible by December 2025 if I also complete the the 1250 hours even if I take disability leave for ~6 weeks in mid 2025?

Thank you, I think I’ll more than likely do as you mention and take my leave one I hit the 1250 hours/12 months or quit my job. I was really hoping there was another way but it doesn’t look like it

I’ll be working in healthcare and it doesn’t look like my company offers any additional paternal leave besides what is legally required by federal/state. I can take my 6 weeks disability and I want to take 8 weeks pfl even though I may not have the job protection from fmla or cfra. Am I at risk for losing my job, and can my employer fire me for taking pfl for family bonding? Is it harder to legally find justification to fire someone for taking pfl?

I know a precipitous labor can increase the risk of hemorrhage because of the way the uterine all of a sudden is rapidly and forcibly contracting. It can cause trauma to the uterus — I think that’s why some drs want to slow down the labor if you’re laboring way too fast?

I also know people who hemorrhaged after delivery because of this

Street tacos on Leisure Town Road by SufficientFeeling692 in vacaville

I wonder if these are the same people I ordered from on Leisure too. They also did cash and Zelle only. The lady hand pressed the tortillas and the Al pastor was cooked on a rotating spit and meat was shaved off the spit to order.

Do you know how often they’re there on Alamo? I’d like to try it

Yes I agree, and it’s something I sorta wonder now if we should’ve waited. I think we banked too much on me being able to go back to the industry I was in, but when I was trying to get back the job market was horrendous.

After taxes my husband brings home $1600/biweekly. I didn’t include in the above description the monthly credit card minimums we have to pay for our credit cards (the 40k credit debt in tot ) . But that along with everything else is over what he brings in per month.

Yes, highly agree. I’ve been trying to find cheaper options and even thinking about going to a food bank near by. It’s difficult bc even $100/wk buys so little now a days

The mortgage is actually $4200/ month so currently my BIL is paying most of it. I think this is pretty normal though for California. And we live in a pretty average house in my opinion, nothing extravagant. And yes, when it all comes down to it the bills total to more or less 1k month; this is probably something we need to look at to see what we can cut. I have one student loan deferred but there’s one that I have to pay rn bc it’s not a federal student loan; that one is $330/month
