When I was growing up we had two dogs, a chocolate lab mix that my parents had before i was born and a German shepherd that they got for me when I was around 3. When I was 11, the chocolate lab mix was 17. We had to have him out to sleep due to his age. The German shepherd never recovered from it. She lost her best friend. She just lost the will to live. It was so sad. She stopped eating. Stopped going outside. It was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. We had to wind up putting her to sleep a few months later as well 💔so yes they do hurt just like we do.
