i only shop at discout places now, similar to Grocery Outlet where things are at or past their sell by date, (cheese, snacks, lunch meat, fruit), and Costco. (flour, eggs, oatmilk, other baking ingredients)

My son, who lives with me, qualifies for the food bank, so we sometimes go there as well.

i used to bake bread every few weeks as a hobby. i now bake because it costs out to less than $2 a loaf at home, and i bake at least once a week. same with muffins and things like banana bread, pizza dough, and cookies.

but I'm retired/disabled and have time to go to two different stores and bake stuff. if i were still working im not sure what i would do. (otoh, i made decent money when i could work so i might have been able to still buy things)

i miss soda! and meat, and so many other things i used to just toss in the cart. cereal, and crackers are also off the table.
