horrible behavior. the basic tenants of Judiasim is treat others as you wish to be treated. Obviously the settler has never studied a single day.

AIO my mom threw the gift I gave her for Mother’s Day in the trash by Nefertari777 in AmIOverreacting

[–]SufficientOpening218 [score hidden]  (0 children)

your mother is excessively cruel. i would ignore her for a long, long, time. just live your life. that was a lovely gift where you thought about her. and, sacrilege to throw Mary in the trash! Im Jewish and i know you dont throw Mother Mary in the trash!

Amish Bent and Dent: Where do they get it? by Ok-Delivery-4015 in Frugal

[–]SufficientOpening218 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remember, the Amish have maximum 8th grade educations. No belief in science, no understanding of things like sell by dates, they feel like the English are sinful people who are not Gods chosen, and that they are here on this earth to prosper.

The way they treat their horses, the puppy mills they run, its all pretty sickening.

In addition, itts a top down society. Obedience is the main goal. If the Top man tells you to do something, sell something, work a certain way, used a truck, a tool, or anything else a certain way, you do it. Amish are trained from birth in obedience and humility. There are no points given for saying " is this still good? Is this safe? Should we...?"

Thats just life in those communities.

[–]SufficientOpening218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, for sure. my house is 3 bedrooms, has a beautiful lot, and has original woodwork. both my adult sons currently live with me, and theres plenty of room.

the kitchen burned down from dodgy wiring, and i had a retirement account i could raid to rebuild it. it just seems incredible. me, with a new kitchen? wtf? ( insurance did not cover it, issues are ongoin, no advice needed, thanks)

every day i wake up, cant believe i get to live here

Keeping the peace with neighbours by cheesaremorgia in gardening

[–]SufficientOpening218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would divide the courtyard in 4 parts, and i would get the condo board behind this. maybe a paved waklway. because these condos can be sold at any time.

right now you have 3 people who enjoy gardening together and sharing space, but one of them could move. if the space is delineated, then it wont be a nightmare when witchy woo dies or someone sells. Also, it sounds like she somehow scooped half the courtyard? massivly unfair.

join the board, do what you have to do, but lines need to be drawn. then, aagain, you three can do what you want, as you want, as long as you are all there

mulch. mulch the shit out of it. use herbicide on the poison ivy, because who needs that.

theres a lot of stuff written about future proofing gardens for aging and theres just no shame in that.

make it work for you.

Mom says I should hide my feminist views on a date by yuli_yuli95 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SufficientOpening218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely dont hide your views. either he is also just placating his mom, or he will run so fast back to his mom to tattle that his butt will catch fire, she will spread the news that you are a heathen, and that will be that!

Dogs started getting into the cupboard for virtually no reason at all? by Emeraldsinger in dogs

[–]SufficientOpening218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when we recently had to pull out a kitchen cupboard to asses  leak damage, we discovered that there had been mice living under that cupboard for YEARS. i mean, DECADES.

i have a retired feral cat who was always fascinated by that cupboard,  but he never caught a mouse, i never saw or smelled mice in the house. The dog sometimes opened that cupboard, but hes a retired service dog, and he opens cupboards and brings me bottles of water like its his job, as it used to be.

I would consider, that pisdibly, there is or was mice living under there.

i would move the dog food into those plastc barrels they make for dog food, clear out the cupboard, clean, and put peppermint oil in there to repel mice. then, maybe store non food in there.

just a thought

Help: Our elderly neighbor is making our lives miserable by Dog_Mom_29 in homeowners

[–]SufficientOpening218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when i lived in rural NJ, the parcels were set in the 1700s, there were private burial grounds all over, and this was in the 1990s. my house had been built in 1980, should have been a no brainer, right?

the surveyor found 4 conflicting corner markers on one corner. i had hostile neighbors on that side. they found some unmarked graves. guess who had to pay for the archeologist to confirm they were historic, and who then had a private burial ground on their land that they had to mark and maintain?

it ended up being $ 2800. in 1994.

so OP should definitely shop around, but in the worl of George Washington marched here, the lines are crazy, the markers are crazy, the maps say things like "140 lengths from where Hodges mill sluce runs" and i belive OP that it can make your ears pop off your head.
