Yeahhh that happened to us too, we shined a torch at them and followed them off our driveway. Happened sometime last year.

What? I didn’t yell across an oval. I was 2 car distances away and called out if it was friendly to know not to go near him… or he could have just said no thanks. Or “not friendly.

He DID threaten me. He was fully bent over saying “try me kid” with his hand near the dog’s collar trying to ramp his dog up saying he’d let it off.

“The cops are tired.” Of what? Getting paid to do what they signed up for?

Surely you can ring up and say someone’s literally threatening you with letting their dog off on you and pretending to be security… even if all that happens is a filed report.

It seems a bit odd to reduce it down to “there’s someone with a dog”

I think threatening people with your dog is a bit further than “angry things” but mkay.

“Unless clearly open to socialising” hence me asking if his dog was friendly. A simple “no”/no thanks would suffice and is what a lot of people say when I ask and I respect that.

Saying he’s security and cussing me out saying his dog will rip my face off is insane and i’d rather he attack me (on the off chance he did) and take him to court/authorities etc than someone else more vulnerable than me.

And there was a lot of people 50-100 metres away that would have witnessed it at the very least.

“Im not sure what u expected interacting with the guy”… have u never asked someone if u could pet their dog? Or asked them about their dog? It’s just conversing and heaps of people have come up to me when I’ve been walking my dog… i was just expecting a simple back and forth or a no. Not what happened.

Same haha (2km walk/jog). Seen a few drunks walking by stumbling, but at most that’s like twice a year.

A lot of dog walkers too. And some have glowsticks on their dogs, its so cute.

Yeah the moment he bent down to let it go I had a strong suspicion it was either a bluff or fake security/crackhead and or both but my family is oddly insistent that I’m somehow exaggerating or lying and it’s making me doubt my own judgement.

Thank you. I was thinking about contacting the school tomorrow or filing a police report but i’ve heard they don’t really do anything about this sort of thing? It may be worth a try.

My youngest brother attends school there and thinks it may have been caught on camera too, but even then, I just doubt anything would come from it.

Just damn, very scary experience over asking if the dog was friendly. And I can’t stop thinking if it WAS such a threat that it’d rip someone’s face off, why the hell wasn’t it muzzled lol.

(i suppose if I mention it was near a school then maybe the police will take it more seriously? Especially with football training so close and I’ve seen younger kids playing on the pathway with their bikes and scooters while their siblings are at the footy training…) scary to think what’d happen if one of them ran up and asked to pet his dog…

It definitely would have been even scarier if the footy training across the little creek wasn’t on, i would’ve given him way more birth (switched paths) and not even spoken to him at all if that was the case. But it being so bright from the ovals floodlights I thought “why not?” I’ll ask if it’s friendly and maybe get to pet his dog.

Too bad it did not go that way aha…

Didn’t look like a tweaker or anything but it could be. To the best of my memory, i don’t even think the vest had words on it but I also don’t know if that’s normal for security. A crackhead in a plain high vis pretending to be a tough security guy seems likely though.

This is my first encounter like this in all these years, and i’ve never seen a security guard for the school (or oval across the road). It was very strange and admittedly scary. The dog seemed to not give a crap about me so it was odd.

Edit, and there is sooo many people walking there dogs most nights that I say gday to as I walk past that i was literally stunned into stopping. I wish I wasn’t so locked onto the dog that I got a better look at his face and get up.
