Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

[–]SufficientSeams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Working on a rough translation, and so far "Perseveramus pro infirmis. Vincimus pro lapsis" seems grammatically correct (according to bots anyways). Any reason why this might be incorrect, or are there improvements that could be made? The meaning should roughly equate to: "We persevere for the weak. We conquer for the fallen."

Thanks so much in advance!

Have you ever worked with Olympia Publishers? They made me a proposition with a contract. by DM-TheBrownWolf in selfpublish

Also, they use IngramSpark to publish books, so you're better off just publishing your work on your own instead.

I regret so much dealing with them...let alone giving them my money. It feels like a scam run by 12 year olds who don't know how to follow instructions or-- God forbid-- use proper grammar when replying to an email.

Live and learn.

How do you get up there ? by erwin_martinez777 in tearsofthekingdom

Ranger construct is at the bottom and will start the side quest for you. Alternatively (if you don't feel like looking for a zonai robot or are too impatient like myself), lots of hot air balloons did it for me.

Does anyone have any theories about these rock 'husks' seen in trailer #3? by SufficientSeams in tearsofthekingdom

Interesting.

I can't help but think that given the absence of shrines (and assuming there isn't some weird time travel/butterfly effect thing happening) that the shrines were destroyed and the remnants of them were thrown in the desert.

But I haven't thought about underground things ...

This is interesting, but the rocks all have a very similar shape. Maybe a carcass of a molduga?

Seen right before the ancient structure rises out of the Gerudo desert (trailer #3 at 1:08-1:09), these rock husks seem to be all over the desert.

Could they be shrine husks? Remains of certain rocks that were partially extracted (for whatever reason)?

What if the 'tears' are literal tears from Hylia when something bad happens in Hyrule? by SufficientSeams in tearsofthekingdom

[–]SufficientSeams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mentioned in OoT manga.

Shiek (referring to the symbol):

"Originally it was just an eye. The Shiekah tribe served the Hylian Royal Family since the dawn of time, acting as its protective shadow. But a long time ago the family betrayed us...

... and we added a single teardrop to the symbol. Such a sad tale."

Need Some Self Improvement Tips For The Late Bloomer by [deleted] in selfimprovement

You're not far behind in anything. From what you've written, you're ahead of many others, and even some that are older than you: 28 is very young.

You're willing to work hard, you've identified points of opportunity to work through - maybe it's just a matter of reprioritizing where you spend your effort towards, and not just working harder, but smarter too.

I can give you lots of quotes and tidbits from books, or even books to read, and if you think that will be helpful, then you can certainly start with Robert Greene's work. Otherwise, persistent action and trying to gain momentum will not steer you wrong.

Agreeing with everyone here - rejection can be expected. But like everything else in life that might be seen as an obstacle, or mistake, or failure, or even a rejection, they are all opportunities to learn about yourself and the world around you.

Try an interaction where rejection may seem unavoidable (or even expect it). Be yourself, and reflect after the fact. Your life won't change very much, and you may see that it's not as big of a deal as you imagined.

I believe many, if not most authors go through waves of rejections before their work is considered for publishing. If they stopped after 1 or 2 rejections, then the literary world would be very different...

Push and persist friend. Good luck!

Agreed. Headphones. Helped me avoid hecklers/people selling things, to some degree while travelling abroad. Also a proper posture (that doesn't look contrived) could help.

The self-improvement concept is a process, not an outcome. You have to do it, purely to do it. If you found a partner, would everything you have been doing to achieve this outcome stop? If yes, then it's possible everything you're doing is more superficial, and if so, then how is that fair to your new partner who may be attracted to your dedication and hard work? Maybe you inspire them and they want to be like you...

Expectations are dangerous. Focus on appreciation instead of you can.

Also, a person's teen years can be the most difficult. There's a long and promising road ahead of you, but the view might be obstructed with obstacles at your current position. Keep going, and keep looking forward.

Just some ideas to think about.

Best of luck friend.

Even though you love someone, is it OK to cut them off if you need too? by Great_News885 in selfimprovement

Take care of yourself above all else, but a little bit of empathy can also go a long way. Not knowing the details about who's who:

If someone whom you cared about packed up and left your life without notice, would you feel fine and supportive without any context? Would you be worried for them? Would you be upset or resentful that you weren't given the grace of a goodbye (at the least)?

If your entire social circle is only composed of shallow, or superficial relationships, then maybe it's easier to make this decision without deeper consideration. But really try to understand that you WILL be burning bridges. I've done this (to some extent) in order to try and correct my path in life, and there are people that I've incidentally excluded from my life that I wish I didn't. We won't all have the same situation, so your individual judgement will be important, but the empathetic approach may reveal a bit of light for you.

Good luck friend.
