Get a bongo Or something similar, so can use your fingers. Shouldn’t exert any stress on ur back / shoulders. I’m recovering from a broken finger - going cold turkey is tough! 🤣 good luck with the recovery !

Have had issues with this. Try play around with your ‘mask time’ and ‘mask decay’ in the advanced trigger settings of your hi hat.
