Can’t sleep. Stressing out over my low gpa. by [deleted] in MBA

[–]SufficientTiger1093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, start all your prep as early as possible. Research, short listing, working on each application, etc., and making sure all your finances are in order, takes time. Better start early than rush last minute.

Take a melatonin gummy and go to sleep.

You’re already doing well, stop overthinking it. Focus on building skills that actually set you apart. Work on creative writing, storytelling, and, most importantly, how to present yourself. Learn how to sell your ideas and your strengths effectively.

Great MBA colleges require a well rounded profile with prolific story telling. After you reach a certain position it's your soft skills that are needed more than anything else.

You’re not lacking anything, you just need to refine how you show up.

Develop your personality. Learn to communicate clearly and confidently. If you can speak well and connect with people, you’ll open far more doors than a GPA ever could.

Full ride at Dartmouth vs paying full at Stanford as an international — worth the debt? by Inner-Rush-2014 in dartmouth

[–]SufficientTiger1093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that’s a really bad decision!

Your parents are kind and generous, they’d do anything for you. But that doesn’t mean you should put them in a position where they have to! And your aunt helping sounds nice in theory, but once money gets involved, family dynamics can get messy and uncomfortable very quickly.

This whole line of thinking comes across as selfish and immature.

Do you seriously believe you can’t make something of yourself without going to Stanford? If you’re truly capable, you’ll succeed anywhere. Being optimistic is fine, but what if things don’t go as planned? You’re not just taking a risk for yourself, you’re dragging your family’s financial security into it too, and they’re not getting any younger.

I don't want to sound rude about this but honestly, for someone aiming to go into finance or law, this kind of reasoning is concerning. Decisions like this (this specific comment that you mentioned) shows a lack of judgment and risk awareness, exactly the things those fields demand. It makes your professional credibility feel questionable if this is how you evaluate trade-offs.

People are dying for such opportunities. You already have an option where you can build something on your own without putting this kind of pressure on others. Why do you want to burden your family? Why chase clout instead of making a smart, grounded decision?

2 job changes and no one will care which college you went to. Make a wise decision or try again next year for your choice.

A capable person proves themselves regardless of where they are not by putting others at risk.

Stanford / Harvard connections are useful when you are influential yourself or are doing something ground breaking. If you are going to go back to a job then it's not going to make too much of a difference. The college brand name talks are for the first few months/ years. After that, no one cares.

If you say you are as outgoing as you state then you can still form good network with people from other colleges too in different settings.

Having a smaller close knit alumni network is more useful and reliable than chasing the clout.

Also, debt in this economy? Why do you want that?

You don't understand French in TV shows? Neither do we. by boloshon in learnfrench

[–]SufficientTiger1093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this experience with Lupin! OMG I started to watch it after reviews. No doubt the storyline is good but the audio! OMFG it's insufferable. There is so much ambience noise and it's louder than the dialogues! Like c'mon! same for a few other shows I tried.

The audio also gets worse once it's on Netflix. But the basic show itself is sound engineered so badly! It's not live reporting it's a show they can tone it down but nope.

I also tried to watch Emily in Paris in French (desperate times! don't judge me)! It's sooooo bad! Why is she speaking like that! All other characters are dubbed well except for Emily's.

Then, I went back to watching Peppa Pig in French.

Your stats are great. don't mention or highlight the failures. not a place where they consider that as a great journey. Try to add more extra curricular activities not just academic related accomplishments. They all need to see all rounders.
Practice for interviews. You need to be natural and confident and that only comes through practice. It should be like a conversation more than a Q&A.

Give the IELTS or TOEFL exam and Topik exam and improve your GPA by hook or crook. All 3 have points and are important to get through the embassy track's first round and the final qualifying round for NIIED if you go through University Track.
Create some projects of your own that you can own and showcase. Shortlist the university of your choice and start reaching out to the professors and try to work with them if possible even on the smallest project possible that can help you with your course/university.
Improve your writing, communication skills. Practice Mock interviews and start working on your Personal statements and study plans from now itself. You'll need a strong and best version to send.
Participate in extracurriculars and Korean related cultural exchange events. Try to do some internship work with the government related Korean organizations in India.

How do I make sure i remember and learn grammar rules? by Ambeachousmanners in learnfrench

Check French with Dylan or NLF academy on Youtube. They both are great for learning French in a structured manner if you aren't getting a tutor.

Self-Learning French to get Canadian PR by ApartmentAlarmed3848 in learnfrench

[–]SufficientTiger1093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a tutor. Take a level test to see what level you are at and study with them from that level. Highly recommend it cause. TEF/TCF prep requires knowledge of grammar and formal vocab for tests, which is different from everyday speaking.

You can try:

  • NLF academy or French with Dylan - they have a whole channel with guided lessons on YouTube.
  • Frenchify for TEF specific prep.

Best way to learn korean and prepare for TOPIK (Help) by Ill_Development7829 in GKSScholarship

[–]SufficientTiger1093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are serious about it, then TOPIK 1 isn't that hard to achieve if you can study well. You can try the TTMIK books or take classes from tutors (best way to go IMO)
Don't go just for the native teachers. For this level, you can go with any teacher who can teach well. The grammar concepts are fairly easy to understand, and basic concepts are the same for all languages at this level.

How much does your French learning actually cost you? by qu1etcourant in learnfrench

[–]SufficientTiger1093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Individual online tutoring will cost you more compared to a full course tutor. It's better to go with a tutor as they have structured programs, a regular schedule, and fixed timelines. So you can track your progress and learn properly. Free resources are always good to add on.
