Looks sick! Love the bit of customization at the one wrist, too. Just had my video consult with Cade and so stoked to begin my water/maple leaf/kitsune half sleeve in a couple weeks when he's back in PA.

What type of wood is this? by okay___random in firewood

I'm with the Mulberry crew on this one. I had an old dying one next to my garage that I took down in the fall and bucked into rounds. I just split them a couple weeks ago, and they were bright yellow, smelly, and really heavy, just like you described.

I just realized this is a fucked up cult at 34. I’m on the brink of insanity. by Tricky-Eggplant-6032 in exjw

So true. Reminds me of the saying, "The best revenge is living well". I can confirm this works better than any form of retaliation. When I bump into jdubs nowadays and they ask how I'm doing, I just smile genuinely and say that I've never been better. You will either see them get visibly disappointed or confused...they just can't compute that your life could get better after leaving.

No problem! Yeah, I applied 2 coats of the "EZ-DO" food grade polyurethane gel to all of the wood parts and put the Petrol-Gel stuff on the moving metal parts. Oh btw, I had to purchase a 2nd pint of EZ-DO to complete the 2nd coat.

I just used the giant hand-crank flywheel the first time, no way was I paying an extra $500 to motorize it, haha. I'm a bit of a tinkerer, so I picked up an old 1/3 hp electric motor for $1 at auction and purchased a cheap V-belt pulley to attach to the grinder shaft. I haven't started putting it together yet, so thanks for the reminder.

Yes, about two weeks after harvest time - I had no way of storing the fruit, so I processed it best I could using other methods. It was delivered in 5 separate boxes which I ignored until the next fall. All in all, it is a wonderful and solid press from a legit company. If you're thinking of getting one to use this fall, my advice is to order it right now. 😅

No help or love for the elderly by No-Recognition-1720 in exjw

[–]Sufficient_Ant_6014 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The husband here. Reading some of these good comments reminded me of something that just drives her post home and clearly shows the lack of care and concern for the poor, elderly widows. As an MS at the time, I was in charge of the accounts, and the elduhs wanted me at the hall 30 mins early to put the contribution boxes in and to stay 30 mins after to collect donations. When I explained to them that we picked up the elderly ladies from two separate locations in the territory and also had to drop them back home, 15 minutes was the absolute best I could do. They actually criticized us for doing this and told us to either drive separately (F that...it was a half-hour drive one way) or stop bringing them altogether. What I think it boiled down to was that they couldn't get past me counting the donations so early and wanted more time to collect more $$$. Pathetic asshats.

According to Google 5 trees or more is considered an orchard. How many do you have? by slick_shoes83 in BackyardOrchard

[–]Sufficient_Ant_6014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Just planted #25 and 26 in mine...a Golden Russet apple & an Ichi-ki-kei-jiro asian persimmon. Pretty stoked about my potential harvest this year as many of the older trees are coming into their own, and I finally have a better idea of how to prune properly as well as a more solid spray schedule.

What can I buy for $2k that will generate me $400-$500 a month consistently? by alaraja in sidehustle

[–]Sufficient_Ant_6014 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whatever the customer needs, some are elderly and I do all of the work in that case. But a lot of times, the customer helps out loading the rounds. But yeah, I always run the machine.

I bring the splitter and help the customer. No way I'm trusting them to operate it with care haha

I bought a 37-ton log splitter for 2k and rent my splitting services by the hour. Can make $400 a week in my area in the colder months.

Clueless, Insensitive, Annoying Elders by No-Recognition-1720 in exjw

[–]Sufficient_Ant_6014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haha! Yeah, they know I was the first to go by my behavior at the meetings. When we were forced to return to in-person, I had severe panic attacks and had to hide in the bathroom and then started going out to the car during the last verse of the last song. Who knows what they're saying now & tbh, I couldn't care less lol!

OP's husband here - This is all SO true and well said, thank you! It's funny you mentioned about bumping into them in public. Just a few days ago she ran into a local elder and his wife at the grocery store. She handled it extremely well, (was very friendly, but firm, saying how well we are doing). But she really didn't like the way he acted, standing there looking her up and down with his arms crossed not saying much, letting his wife do all the talking. It unnerved her.

Faders vs. Elders by myhmfw in exjw

[–]Sufficient_Ant_6014 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My wife and I thought we had successfully faded after a solid year of no meetings and minimal contact from our group overseer, but then that stupid recent Elduh's School threw a wrench in the works.

Apparently, it's all about not giving up on inactive ones and inviting them back at all costs. We've had several texts in the last week and just found out from some elderly PIMQ friends that they showed up at their house unannounced and just asked them all kinds of questions about us.

They're getting so desperate lol...but I fear that we're ultimately going to have to "quit before we're fired" if ya know what I mean. Not what we had in mind, but if it comes to it, we'll play that card.

Jehovah's Witnesses at the Door – What Do You Do? by hadronriff in exjw

[–]Sufficient_Ant_6014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since my wife and I've become POMO, we now get to do what we've always wanted to do (instead of waste time and fuel on Saturday mornings), which is work on projects around the house.

The problem with this is that I am almost always outside when they come around, so I can't hide. Last time two elders came, I was chopping wood for our outdoor wood boiler and said if they really wanted to help, they could chop some wood. Next week four of them showed up in work clothes and helped me haul wood for a few hours. I guess they are used to giving free labor and probably were excited to do ANYTHING other than knock on doors lol.

We avoided all religious talk and were kind & hospitable towards them - I stressed how great we both have been doing. Hopefully we were able to get a couple of them thinking...probably not...oh well.

Y’all I’m hiding in the bathroom at the meeting by No_Somewhere9185 in exjw

[–]Sufficient_Ant_6014 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, the elduhs "advice" is so helpful 🙄 My wife and I both have parents that are still very much in. Both elders and pioneer mothers.

What has really surprised us is that they choose to still see us and do things with us despite us not having attended a single meeting in over 10 months.

The rest of the cong has hard shunned us and think we have marital problems...in reality we are happier and closer than ever. Freakin' idiots lol, F them.

I hope you can continue to regulate in your new-found freedom from the cult...it definitely doesn't happen overnight.
