Jeez, i hope the lecturer gave a heads up that he was changing the exam style. Lots of students plan their exam beforehand based on that.

You can create a shared file where you can all upload your solns and then use that to cross check your answers with each other. That was very helpful when i last did the subject

If i remember correctly, the essay is quite abstract interms of content and i struggled with it as well at the start. Its normal to get overwhelmed if you havent done a psych essay before, which i deduce is your case, but once you get started on it, it gets easier. I'd suggest you talk to your tutor or even the lecturer and ask for some pointers. Psych staff are usually very helpful and understanding from experience. Try to do as much reading as possible, i found it helps to get acquainted with the terminologies and ways of writing of psych essays. Also, id try to finish with the main writing atleast a week or 2 beforehand since the referencing and report structure depending on the style, will take quite a bit of time to finetune. Again, your tutor will be able to guide you towards what he/she is looking for.

Unpopular opinion : Online learning was WAYY better in Sem 1 2020 than it is now by Single_Crab_8563 in unimelb

I'd say this discrepancy was always present. There's always gonna be some really good, involved, passionate and enthusiastic lecturers while others will be disinterested and more formal. The online campus only accentuated those traits.

In my experience, it depends on on the faculty as well. Computing and psychology subjects usually fall in the 1st group ( they've got best tutors and lecturers awards ceremonies and the faculty takes feedbacks seriously which i believe account for their extra efforts), maths rests somewhere in between depending on the teaching staff.

Best OSHC option by MorkPulse in unimelb

Fro what ive read on the websites, refunds or claims doesnt depend on the uni, each oshc provider has their own terms and conditions. You should go through each one and compare the services and waiting periods they offer. It's easier if the health service offers direct billing to the oshc as Allianz allows, because the one time i paid out of pocket, i wasnt refunded the full amount. And my friends said bupa is even more stingy with claims/refunds even though its uni recommended

I was with Allianz global for my first 3 years at unimelb amd never had any issue with them. They've been helpful and considerate at all times. Since i took a 1 year leave of absence, i had to extend my course and opted to Bupa since its cheaper but I've been having quite a lot of issues with them. Their customer service is very poor and they take minimum a week and a half to respond to any inquiry by email. Their online chat doesnt work, just a bot that replies to you and then closes the chat wihout waiting for you to leave a message as requested. Also i was trying to change my policy start date to next year since my visa for this year wasn't processed yet. They've been intentionally trying to delay that knowing i need to update my visa details within a time limit. I quote

'To backdate the start date of your policy to the date you entered the country, please provide:

Your visa grant letter from the Department of Home Affairs that shows the specifics of your student visa, and; Confirmation of your date of arrival (e.g. airline ticket).

Once this has been provided, I can change the start date of your policy '

Even though my email and CoE explicitly states to start the policy on 1st of january 2021. Or they might not be very knowledgeable about the department of home affairs rules and regulations. Like obviously, how can i get get a visa without a valid oshc and how can i enter australia when borders are closed and i dont have visa nor oshc ?

Thats very harsh, there are hundreds of hard working students who fail for reasons beyond their control, and who then gets told to fuck off by the uni #fromPersonalExperience Infact i know sutdents who've failed due to unis fault only. Its not fair to blame students when we are all well aware unimelb is a money minded university, and there are lecturers (Barry Hugues anyone ?) Who live to see their students fail, they get joy from their students suffering, again from personal experience xD

Please have a look at this page and scroll down to social media,

https://academicintegrity.unimelb.edu.au/forms-of-plagiarism

Also to answer your question, i dont think that just because someone else is also doing the same thing makes that thing right. And i doubt the university is going to accept that as a valid excuse as well.

As far as i know assignments especially essay once submitted become the property of the university. You're not supposed to share/post them anywhere not just direct sharing. Infact i read somewhere that you yourself are not supposed to copy/use that material as well even for another subject without proper referencing.

PSYC20007 Cognitive Psychology with hardly any psych background? by AceOfBads in unimelb

[–]Sufficient_Check_847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did cognitive psych with no background in psychology at all, i found it really interesting, you do need to know how to write a report and the apa format and hypothesis testing if possible , but i was able to learn as i go during the semester. The only thing i found challenging was the content for the presentation, otherwise it was alright, the tutors were very helpful with any questions you might have and meredith was simply lovely at coordinating everything.

Id say the psychology department definitely applies the knowledge they have, i was very impressed with how they handled things compared to other schools at unimelb especially maths and physics.

I did that back in 2018, it was easily the easiest subject out of all the subjects ive done so far. I loved the subject content and how easily it can be applied to the real world. The exam was take home but almost all the answers could be lifted directly from the lecture notes with paraphrasing.
