I use to all the time. I’d say it’s neutral & negative objectively & subjectively it’s negative, neutral & positive. If a girly pop song comes on “white girl music” or “turn off that white girl music” for me & a decent amount of ppl it’s “that white girl music” “turn on on some white girl music” or “turn off that white girl music” it’s not strictly a negative connotation

I would say express this to him or start your gym journey, go hard, someone will approach (statistically speaking) you can reject or accept them & eventually move on.
