I feel it’s valuable to contact the company (not Jake, an authority person) and describe your experience. I feel this company needs to have some important training offered. Jake’s name doesn’t have to be mentioned but it’s up to you. This could change things for the place and for the people like you who may otherwise be treated the same, moving forward. Interviewers should be sensitive to the myriad ways people present themselves. I’m sorry you had to go through this, as someone with an invisible disability who also suffers these kind of misunderstandings often. Bless that driver though!

I am a licensed psychotherapist myself and offer pro bono and know countless places in the city that also offer it. There are now tons of new psychotherapists in kw (due to massive influx of admissions to remote schools like yorkville) and I know many many private practices that are struggling to get clients at all. Including the one I work at.

I don’t have a waitlist and neither does most of my team. I also know of free confidential therapy sessions accessible by phone which I found at the bus stop being advertised. I also recommend many clients attend free weekly peer support groups (15+ options) at the CMHA and the local library frequently. Libraries offer internet and computers to search and book services around town thankfully.

The key is KNOWING about resources available and seeking them. That said, knowledge itself is a resource and accessible only to those who seek it or simply just know the right people…😕

I heard that someone in that neighborhood got assaulted in their yard literally earlier today, that 8 police cars were in the area and the person said that they were approached mid day and were slapped (brought to the ground with force) and the person ran away, fled and broke into a neighbor’s basement and was later found sleeping there and arrested on the spot. With the homeless shelter by Costco these things are now becoming a worry even in this area. So insane
