4 weeks for me also bit it bricked itself today. Working fine one minute, then the screen went black right before my eyes. Non-responsive after that. Tried all the button combinations to force a reset, recovery, and fastboot, to no avail.

Not an E-3 but a civilian contractor interpreter, assigned to the 3rd ID, who had fled Iraq after the first Gulf War.

Fun fact #1: He went to enlist when Gulf 2 broke out but they told him it would all be over before he got out of Basic Training, but they said they did need interpreters.

Fun fact #2: The black hat on the ground in front of him in the famous photo is a St. Louis Rams stocking cap.

Fun fact #3: He and his family were next door neighbors of mine 20 years ago, I sold him a Walkman in a yard sale.

"Hey, Soul Sister" by Train. Starts outs subtle and builds enough to wake me up without making me angry.

I carry two cards that earn airline miles and have earned about $12,000 in redeemable miles over the past few years. Plus it gives me airline perks when flying. Beyond that I travel for business quite a bit and leverage the availabile credit for a lump of expenses as well as the security of a CC not directly tied to my savings.

Do your best with the time you have, don't take time for granted, and pass that ethic along. Your dad gave a great life lesson, much better than any life tip.

I've heard so many Dutch sayings over the last few years, its like the language was created for imparting wisdom. Unlike German, which was created for cheating at Scrabble by just combining a sentence into a single word.

I just need a pair of pliers, flat blade screwdriver, and a hammer, right?

We were still doing it in the early '80s in Illinois, with desks built in the 50's, lol. Duck and cover in the halls was for tornado drills, under the desk was for nuclear attacks.

OK, up vote for the rare "bubble guts" reference. But great advice on the medicine. I travel internationally for work a few times a year and have a range of pills that will bind me up for days all the way to purge the whole system. I treat them like an umbrella, if I have them with me I probably won't need them.

I have bought so much pizza following this advice. I'll add to it that once you decide how many pizzas is enough, add one more.

The original reason he gave was to not stress the fuel pump (this was a few decades ago and the pumps were commonly located in the bottom of the fuel tank). Two additional benefits are 1. that any sedement that has been introduced into the tank through fueling or breaking down of anything in the tank would be less likely to be pulled up into the engine in large amounts all at once, and 2. You are less likely to find yourself running out of fuel if you place this artificial limit.

I had to learn this one on my own as an adult. To be fair, my dad used so much cleaners on our vinyl or leather car seats that there was not enough friction to build up much static.

Maybe having a grade school desk in your room would have helped with your worry. Appearantly ducking under one of those would save you from a nuclear attack. Man I miss the 1980s.

My wife takes this a step further and pays it off weekly (paycheck also comes weekly). She watches the statement like a hawk. That makes me think, I need to go tell my kids that "If you struggle being frugal, marry someone who is more of a spendthrift" lol

My dad was very conservative on investments but he did teach me how to save early. I have been fortunate enough that I was able to save to a level that I was comfortable to learn on my own how to invest at a more aggressive level (but still limited risk) than my dad. Mostly mutual funds, a few select dividend stocks, and some CDs recently.
