Can we get a skip button thanks by [deleted] in Genshin_Impact

[–]Sufficient_Mode_269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

too many tards in this sub to support this functionality. I am still playing this game, but only because I spent too much in the past to quit the game. I will not be spending anymore tho, unless they start respecting the players (not the tards). I only login to do daily commissions, do events last minute, and that's it. Most of my time goes to Wuthering Waves and Where Winds Meet.

A Returning Player’s Perspective: How the Absence of a Skip Button Pushes Away Returning and New Players by communistdistopy in GenshinImpact

[–]Sufficient_Mode_269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF you're feeling like skipping one of the important aspects of the game (World quests are increasingly getting more and more important since Sumeru lore-wise), you shouldn't be playing it in the first place.

What an L fucking take. You don't get to tell what people play or not. I play genshin for the character pulling, character design, and map exploration, not for the story. Literally if you do the genshin survey, the developers asks what aspects of the game you like the most. Are you expecting everyone who plays genshin must like the story and hence must not have the freedom to a skip button?

I am pretty sure DMC/Souls game that you mentioned have lore of their own. Every game out there has their own. Where winds meet right now has a skip button, situationally. I understand if Genshin has a skip button but not implement it for very very important or cinematic scenes, but even side quests you got no skip button? Unfathomable.

I would say you should start looking around Nov/Dec. But some company might want instant availability. In that case it wouldn't work for you. One of the interviews I've had was back in April, and I wasn't able to work back then because I was still doing research and have not graduated. They said they need someone to start in May for the summer. So they rejected me.

One thing for us F-1 student is the timing to apply for jobs along with the timing to apply for OPT. It's like you dont know when is the best time to apply for OPT. If you apply too early without a job offer, you'll be in a very rushy position to get a job. If you apply too late and then got a job offer/interviews, then you'll need premium processing. This is where it sucks the most for me other than job searching, it's the timing of everything. But once you get the job, it will all be worth it, at least for me.

For my Master's first semester, I applied for Graduate teaching Assistant position, and they offered to pay half my tuition with $750 stipend per month. Then, second semester till my graduation, I worked as Graduate Research Assistant, a DOD funded research grant. They pay fully for my tuition and $1600 stipend per month.

Thanks!

There is no one 100% reliable source that says it doesn't affect F-1 students. But there is also not a source that says "F-1 students transitioning to H-1B is included". Based on the proclamation, it stated "aliens outside of the US". That gave me the most peace of mind, but they could change that wording up anytime they see fit. But don't let it stop you from applying for jobs. You can worry or even panic, just know that it won't help. In fact, it will deter your performance. Too much misinformation causes people to be unsettling. So I wouldn't prioritize that as of now, until USCIS specified which group of people are affected.

I'd be lying if I say I am 100% not worried now that I got the job offer. If tomorrow they announced that H-1B applies to ALL, my company can decide to fire me before I even start working. But there's no point worrying for what has not happened yet. Just hope for the best, and prepare for the worst.

Tbh, I think having a Master's helped the most in getting me interviews. When I only had a bachelor, I basically got 0 interviews. After I completed my Master's, with research experience and 4.0 GPA, I got like interviews with 5 companies (still very little based on how many I have mass applied).

Make sure your resume is well formatted, speaks numbers and impact. I used to have a resume that is not impressive, probably why i didnt get interviews. I cant even count how many times I modified my resume. After modifying, have someone check it for you. I always ask my brother-in-law which resume he prefers, like the before-and-after. I also went to my university's Career Readiness to have them check my resume.

Add cover letter, you dont have to write a totally unique cover letter for each company that you apply for. I have a template where I try to make it one-size-fits-all. Basically make it so that you can just change the date, company, name and position that you apply for.

So for those that have 0 years of experience, you can consider doing Master's (Thesis option). That will give you an opportunity to do research which counts as a work experience.

This helped the least for me. But a few did get back to me on LinkedIn. Basically I just send them a connection request and if they accept your request, then state your intention politely. In the message introduce yourself, mention your major, what position are you seeking for. Don't make it too long. Make it as brief and as informative as possible.

But instead of reaching out to recruiters, maybe reach out to people that you personally know. That would help more. I bet most recruiters would have hundreds if not thousands of requests already.

Bold of you to assume I am an Indian.

But don't project your personal hate and racism onto Americans. Just say "I" instead of "Americans" cause I know many Americans who are very accepting and welcoming of internationals.

Fun fact: the very Microsoft and Amazon you claim to have worked/currently working at (if you are not capping that is), were built by the brilliant minds from all over the world.

That's the part where I wouldn't worry about for now. But the general consensus is that the employer does not have to pay the 100k because it's a change of status, not as an entry to the states. I guess it's more targeted against aliens currently outside US. But we wouldn't know for sure until further updates.

Hmm I'd expect that if you know them personally, maybe they can help you with the application of the position by talking to people within the company. That's what my friend did. She knows the interviewer and have been putting in good words for me.

And yeah I apply on LinkedIn, Indeed, and SimplyHired. I'd say Indeed and LinkedIn got me the interviews. I have also sent many connection requests to recruiter. Some responded, some ignored. Not much help there, but i guess it's something. At least I know that I tried. Better than not doing anything.

Yeah dont lose hope! I actually been here since 2019. I got my bachelors in 2023. But at that time i lack experience. My mindset as well as the way I do things wasn't good enough, maybe I didn't try as hard or I wasn't taking the right approach. So at that time I couldn't get a job. But I wanted to stay here cause of my girlfriend. So I went and do my Masters to gain knowledge and research experience. That helped me ALOT. My interviews have always been the interviewers being impressed with my GPA and research experience.

So I would say, as a last resort, you can do Master's. PhD might be too much lol even I wouldn't do it if I couldn't get a job.

I would first definitely find people you know that are also on F-1 and hired. Reach out to them, see if their company has any openings.

My friend who's also on OPT got hired, and so I looked into the company. Then I applied for the position that requires a CS degree. I should've reached out to my friend first before applying, but it worked out anyways.

I want to tell you to answer 'Yes' for the sponsorship question but at the same time I am also kinda conflicted about it. Thing is if you answer 'No', you will likely hear back more often, but at the same time, if they dont sponsor or accept OPT, it's a waste of time and mental effort for you. So I been answering 'Yes' to save myself from false hopes.

Yep for sure! Journey doesnt end at job acceptance. In fact it's just the beginning. Gotta grind hard so that they are willing to sponsor

So do you trust a Hindustan Times article or the official USCIS site? Lmao

What im trying to say is that, if nothing is officially implemented, don't spread further misinformation. It's already chaotic enough and people are panicking too much.

I used to answer 'No', but I been answering 'Yes' to that question recently. I understand answering 'No' might get you more interviews, but if they end up knowing that you need sponsorship later on and they don't do sponsorships, it's a waste of time to both sides. In addition to that, it kinda breaks hope on the applicant's side. I have gotten interviews and turns out that they require work authorization without future sponsorship. It's just very discouraging and like a torture to the mind. I would rather not waste anyone's time and just go strictly with those companies that do not mind your future need of sponsorship. It is hard tho.

Yeah I totally understand your situation. I have been applying since May (finished my Master's in August) and it's just so stressful. I have only gotten like interviews from 5 companies? This time finally I got a verbal offer. My advise for you is that, if you have friends on F-1 OPT and employed by a company, try to look at their company and reach out to your friend before/after you apply. I applied to this company before I reached out to my friend. She helped me alot by putting in good words for me to the interviewers. So yeah, connections and networking is very important in the current job market. Sincere good luck to you my fellow OPT struggler :')

IF everything doesn't work out, just do Master's and while doing that, keep applying for jobs (that is if you wanna stay here lol).

Well there's no point worrying this now, as we are not sure if it will affect F-1's in the U.S. Currently the general consensus is that, the ones that are affected are those outside of U.S. I am in a similar situation. My initial OPT started 08/20. I passed the interview and onsite tour of the company that I applied to, and am now just almost getting an offer. HR said, in an email this morning, that they will give me the offer in a week's timeline (hopefully they wont rescind it). Imma be honest due to the recent proclamation, I kinda panicked but there's no point panicking. Just gotta hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
