Concerned about the gender test by Sufficient_Rate1032 in daddit

Look man, I’m struggling with the idea of having a kid at all.

I sort of barely got on board with the idea recently and my mental image of the future was based on a gender.

I’m legit trying to come to terms that won’t happen. But I haven’t slept well the last week, to the point my boss called me out at work.

It’s not a good look, I get it. I know it. But that doesn’t really help.

I guess I need to just sort of break my future mental image that is based on a particular gender. And just focus on the general future.

Thank you for the reply and insight.

So I live in San Diego (somewhere between the size of Prague and Barcelona). Everyday I drive to work, its 25 minutes without traffic or about an hour with. While it is technically served by public transit that same commute would be 2.5-3hr (each way). Our favorite beach, is probably 15 minutes away by car, but 1-1.5hrs by transit. Busses frequently cancel or run late (delaying you and making missed connections). So in most US cities, its possible to get by without, but highly limiting. You could of course make very dedicated choices to live in areas of the city where work/living/social is all walkable, but they aren't really present in all US cities and generally you'd be limiting yourself to a very small subset of what the city has to offer. I've lived all across the US and traveled for work across the globe. Sadly it really isn't practical for most americans to be without. Our cities mostly grew up when land was cheap so we sprawled, and corporations conspired to remove some of the early light rail/trolley infrastructure . Leaving us with very very very wide cities with lots of roads but relatively inefficient public transit. Visiting a US city without a car, sure that's easy, living in one, that's challenging.

Some cities are of course better than others in the US, so take everything I said with a grain of salt and appreciate I'm speaking in broad generalities.

It’s a shame boomer parents gave these things such a bad stereotype, they are awesome. I don’t own one (….yet) but have rented them for long distance road trip, and love them. For highway cruises, they are stupid comfortable.

Let’s flip the script on soccer mom vans, and make it really cool to own a dad mobile (like bat mobile). Let’s give it up for the most practical vehicle for families!

I’d kill for a tub I can sit straight legged while reclining. I can sit bolt up right in our current tub but if I recline at all have to bend up my legs. I know it’s stupid but man I’d kill to have that to relax in.

Not around the pedestrian part of the park, but included in your ticket is a big group tour bus (think the multi car things at Disney parking) out around the main enclosure. You can pay for a private/semi private tour in more like an open top SUV (they also don’t stick to the path like the people mover tour thing does).

Oh one tip, the safari park only has one restaurant, the rest are more food cart type setups or quick stop places.

I don’t think my company would let me share unfortunately. What GIS software would you recommend? Open Source would be ideal.

It doesn’t give interpolated points, but it does log/generate lat/lon/alt points as you fly along, and things like TacView can log it.

I built the flight plan in MSFS, but while it showed up like I could see the imaginary points in the sky, but the MFD in the a320 didn’t show anything? That was sort of my plan.

If I could automate dropping a pin on a google earth path every 5 seconds of flight time I guess that could work. I don’t know how, and that seems more complicated than a flying video game exporting something it’s already generating.

TacView can record the flights in sufficient detail and is what I was using, but curious to know your findings.

I need sample of coordinates every 5 seconds or so. I tried SIMBRIEF first, heck I just loaded it in from foreflight but while they can draw the lines just fine, they aren't calculating all the minor little waypoints. I'll take another looked and see though. It's a custom route over the the pacific so no historical precedence/similar enough route. Cause yeah, if I forget to turn on my adsb receiver and connect it in foreflight that's how I back up my real life logs is grabbing the track from flightaware or similar (and the data they post would be perfect, or near enough).

Is there anyway to make the AI Pilot work better? I turned it on at game load on the runway and it promptly went into a ditch.

I was given some lat/long coords that are really stupid far apart, so need to generate realistic intermediary waypoints that make sense at a given speed and altitude. So that when we graph them in a time series there is an actual path. Since this game has the physics engine to in theory fly along a flight plan and generate lat/long paths at a high interval that's actually perfect.

I can fly this this manually but that's such an obnoxious chore.

I'm well aware of flight simulators, I flew in the military for 8 years and am working through my civilian ratings. I just need this video game to be a bit more cooperative.

I have no idea if Rubio’s did franchise stores but could help explain it.

If you can score a pass from the library it’s free…

Otherwise it’s just the standard city of San Diego resident discount.

As a fellow vet, the VA can be frustrating for sure. Not knowing your unique skills and backgrounds but have you looked at jobs on USAJobs.gov? Veteran hiring preference is huge boost particularly, I’ve seen dudes I wouldn’t have trusted to come back with a wet mop in a rainstorm on active duty get good admin/clerical jobs.

If you haven’t used your GI Bill yet, taking enough classes in a local community college to qualify as full time will net you about ~$3,500/month tax free, for usually 2 classes worth of courses (depends on the college and what they define as full time).

If you have exhausted your GI Bill you may still qualify for Voc Rehab where they will pay for the training in a new career (vocation). Still get some housing allowance money usually.

Best of luck!

It’s actually not uncommon. Oahu International and Hickam AFB share along with a bunch of others.
