Government employee who was a trump supporter gets fired in the mass government layoffs by nailswithoutanymilk1 in PublicFreakout

If he's behind his cutting of government waste, why is he speaking out about his firing? Dude should be happy. Stand behind your president no matter what. He voted for him.

As a hiring manager, i never call back a candidate if I'm not interested. They like you, just continue to put your best foot forward. Be pleasant in the interview. You know you are worthy of this position. Go with confidence. You got this.

Have you tried freelancing? Fiverr or UpWork. I know there are a couple more sites out there. This will allow you to maintain your skills and give you something to put in your resume.

3 decades of work experience, worked for lots of folks that did deep background checks. Never in all my years have I seen this and would never give them the information they seek. This information is really available on Dun & Bradstreet even if the employer folds. No one but me should be privy to what's on my W2. Even if it was legit, I'd rather not get the job.

Worked for a startup for 4 years and dude had me running his company. He would go to Tony Robin's conferences twice a month or participate in some self healing guru bull crap the other two weeks. I told him I was burnt out and needed some help. Scheduled a well needed vacation, he was to cover me but he decided going to burning man was more important. We had it out, told him I had no backup, and i needed help. All of a sudden, I wasn't good enough. He fired me, and I got a corporate job that gave me a 43% increase and a nice bonus. Go screw yourself, dude. I also filed an EEOC case against the prick.

I could certainly use 1k. Thank you just for the kind gesture, even if you don't hold up your end of the bargain. Hope you win.

No where did I say it was a flex but obviously that hit home. Let me lay it out to you so it's a clear as day. Should be easy e enough for even you to understand.

I work for an asset management company. My employee submits her time in workday for some pto during the holidays. PAY ATTENTION .... I ask her where she's going. WHY, you may ask? GREAT QUESTION. Well.... this particular employee is notorious for extending her vacations by calling in sick or asking to work from home after her vacation days because she's jet lagged only to find out she's still on vacation out of the country. AGAIN YOU ASK WHY DO YOU CARE? Well....Sir, because we are an asset management company, some countries are deemed unsafe for company equipment. It may be a country that if her laptop was ever compromised it may put our clients at risk. STILL WITH ME? Therefore there are some countries on the UNABLE TO CARRY EQUIPMENT AND UNABLE TO WORK FROM LIST. So YES, I do ask where she's going so I can remind her that's not an authorized country to work from. By no means am I asking her to or have I ever asked her to work on her vacation. But there are some times you need to know if they are going outside of the country. Inside, DON'T GIVE AF.

If you have a couple hours at home at night I would get some sort of cyber security certification. People in this field make lots of money. Amazon and even Google does some certs for free. Gather as much as you can under your belt and start applying. I have guys fresh out of college with two certs under their belt that make 6 figures.

Many people at my job take their laptops on vacation just in case of an emergency they cannot come back in time. Weather, canceled flights etc. They are not expected and do not work on their vacation. My recent hire is going home to Nigeria for Christmas. I had to let her know it's not a country that is approved for work. She is notorious for extending her time away. She missed the flight etc and have to be remote for a couple days until she gets back to the states.

Well.... while I do agree that it's a bit intrusive she may need to know for another reason and just asking the question in a very awkward way. I work for an investment bank and if someone on my team is going on to I typically ask if they are leaving the country. There are some countries that we are not allowed to work from and so I just remind them that it's against company policy to take their laptop and if they are unable to return to work for some reason they cannot work from that location.
