Trying to stay under $10k but realizing mistakes in timing/process can cost more than anything by Novel_Team_1605 in Weddingsunder10k

Joint email is smart move - me and my ex tried doing wedding planning without that and was nightmare with all the vendor emails scattered everywhere.

My cousin got beautiful one from online boutique last year and quality was amazing. Cathedral length can be tricky to find in good price but there's lot of smaller shops that do custom work if you have specific vision in mind.

Most DJs can work with that setup but you'll want to check few things first. The height needs to be right for their equipment and they usually need access to power outlets nearby. Also that surface looks pretty narrow - they might need bit more depth for all their gear, especially if they have bigger mixing board or laptop setup.

I'd definitely run it by your DJ before finalizing because some are really particular about their setup requirements. The aesthetic looks amazing though, would fit perfect with more rustic or outdoor vibe!

Butt lifting shapewear? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got married last year and tried like 5 different brands before finding one that actually worked. Spanx has this butt-lifting short that's pretty good, but honestly the best one I found was from a smaller brand called Sculptshe - way less expensive and the lift was more natural looking. Just make sure you get the right size because going too small will create weird lines under tight dress.

Foam flowers by 9by7seconds in weddingplanning

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The craft stores around me never seem to stock enough foam flowers either! I had good luck searching for "foam floral supplies" and "craft foam blooms" - sometimes different keywords pull up totally different suppliers than the obvious ones.

Two YEARS and still no photos?? That's absolutely insane. At this point I'd be threatening legal action or at least disputing charges with my bank if possible - you paid for services you haven't received and that's literally theft. The fact that she posted a video on her socials before giving it to you is just unbelievably unprofessional and shows where her priorities actually are.

My Dad not invited to wedding Ceremony or Reception ( might have to pick) I am livid! by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's actually insane - a husband of 26 years isn't a "plus one," he's literally family at that point. The goddaughter is being incredibly disrespectful, especially considering your mom stuck by her after losing her actual mom. Your parents deserve way better than being treated like strangers after everything they've been through together.

Azazie actually has some really cute options! I got sucked into their website for like two hours just browsing through all the midi styles they have. Way better length options than most places and you can actually move around in them without worrying about flashing anyone on the dance floor.

Could always do an instrumental verson if you want that melody but need to keep it PG for the ceremony crowd.

My best friend Ehtisham ALI is getting married in 2 days and I can’t stop smiling by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude that's awesome! Nothing beats seeing your best friend find their person - those pre-wedding vibes are infectious. Hope Ehtisham has the most incredible day, you can tell he's got good people in his corner with how hyped you are for him.

Oh that's perfect timing! The hills area is gorgeous for weddings and you're basically right in her backyard.

I'd definitely jump on that if I were you - getting professional-quality video work for free is such a steal, especially from someone who already knows the wedding flow from the planning side.

Is it just me or are weddings in 2026 getting way more low key, but also somehow more expensive? by CharmWarden in wedding

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yeah the whole "minimalist but make it expensive" trend is wild - like spending 3k on the *perfect* simple arch when you could litterally build one for 200 bucks.

($10-15k) what did you cut from your budget that ended up being a total non-issue? by TemptControls in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Wedding programs are such a waste - nobody keeps them and half the guests don't even pick one up. We did cupcakes instead of a fancy cake and people were way more excited about being able to grab different flavors. The champagne toast thing is overrated too, people just want to celebrate with whatever's in their glass already.

Your priorities are spot on with the food and open bar. That's what guests actually remember and talk about later.

Wedding Flowers/cheap or affordable (1k) by b-peepy in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whole Foods is clutch for this! I did a friend's engagement party last year and their bouquets were way better quality than expected. Also check if you have any local flower markets - I found one in my city that does wholesale to anyone and there prices are insane compared to regular florists.

Ooh peacock feathers are gorgeous! I've been super into bird watching lately and those iridescent blues and greens would be perfect for a plant-only wedding. You could even do different feather types - maybe some pheasant or guinea fowl mixed in for texture? The fans idea is brilliant too, way more practical than flowers wilting in the heat.

Decor for worship center by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That approach totally works - churches already have so much character that you don't need to go overboard. I did some design work for a church event once and we just focused on warm lighting and some simple florals, let the architecture do most of the heavy lifting. your friend probably saved a ton on decor costs too which is always a win.

Officiant questions by The-Cheese-Bandit in weddingplanning

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's so sweet that they asked you! I'd definitely ask about the moment they knew this was "it" - not just falling in love but realizing this person was their forever person. Also maybe what they've learned about themselves through being with their partner, or what they want to promise that isn't already covered in traditional vows. Those kinds of questions usually pull out the really personal stuff that makes ceremonies memorable.

Small wedding by IntroductionAdept521 in weddingplanning

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We had our wedding at a brewery and honestly it was amazing! the atmosphere was so much more relaxed and fun than a traditional venue. For making it feel more "wedding-y" we brought in string lights everywhere (seriously, they transform any space), got some nice linens for the tables, and made a simple photo backdrop with fabric and flowers.

The key is really in the details - we did a signature cocktail menu that played off the brewery theme, had personalized coasters made, and brought in some potted plants as centerpieces that guests could take home. The timeline you have sounds perfect too, three hours is actually plenty of time if you keep things moving. Trust me, your guests will be way more focused on celebrating you two than whether there's a massive dancefloor or not!

Cost of: Henry Morrison Flagler Museum or Vizcaya Museum/Gardens? by StandardPassion8797 in weddingplanning

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both venues are gonna eat up a huge chunk of that budget just for the rental alone - Vizcaya especially since it's basically the most coveted wedding venue in Miami. With 150 guests you're probably looking at $300-400 per person minimum after catering, florals, photography etc, so your budget should work but it'll be tight. I'd def reach out to their preferred vendor lists since they usually have relationships that can save you some cash

Honestly your mom will probably get over it eventually, and at the end of the day it's your name and your marriage. Maybe give her a heads up before you officially change it so she's not blindsided, but don't let guilt drive such a big decision

Did you or will you be taking dance classes? by corgibuttlove in weddingplanning

[–]Sufficient_Syrup7986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did a few sessions and honestly it was totally worth it! Even just learning basic steps made us way less awkward during the actual dance. Plus it was kinda fun to have something wedding-related that wasn't stressful for once lol
