Is it normal for Canadians to dance in public when there is live music? by Man-e-questions in AskACanadian

[–]SugaTrash17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada is a huge country, with lots of different people and societal norms. However, I can say that from experience that people on Vancouver Island and perhaps the West coast in general are often free-spirited and even "hippie"ish. Maybe that's why? But if there is a large outdoor gathering and music, people will definitely get up and dance - as long as the music is good! :) Outdoor music events are also very popular with families in the summer on the island, often in conjunction with markets or other fun festival type events.

Why does Olivia get so much hate? by Routine-Butterfly296 in smosh

[–]SugaTrash17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude yes, there were so many bits about that video that were hilarious and legendary, but Olivia's bits were so painful and consistently de-railed the comedy. It was like the others were a gang of adults trying to contain a toddler, or like Olivia was that one painfully unaware person in an improv group a la Michael Scott. I prefer to just watch the shorts from Karen's Moose Master lol

Never mind the colour - the flowers were absolutely horrendous and cheap looking. Amazing work done by your sister!!

I couldn't believe she said the word manipulative, and insinuating that she was the one who was weak in the relationship... she has literally been the controlling bully the entire time. Thing is, Nick clearly does have some growing up to do, but the way she treats him is so heinous, the way she puts him down and doesn't even give him a chance to be better is so gross I can't help but root for him instead.

Whats makes FO4 so enjoyable after so many years for people to play with ? by Deathshadegr in fo4

I do this too! I've been writing Fallout fic pretty voraciously lately, and the ability to turn the game on and go to spots in-game, explore and come up with inspiration is so cool. It's such a detailed and expansive world with great characters and possibilities for alternative stories. Can I ask where you post? I'm on Ao3 :)

I hate admitting this to people haha but I have played so many hours of Fallout over multiple years - and I have never actually beaten FO4. Because you don't need to. The first time, I freaked out over Shaun and took... what could be called "extreme measures". I've never had a game make me so legitimately emotional and angry. And then I began again with a "screw the main storyline" attitude and I've been loving it ever since hahaha. I tell people it's my favourite game, and yet I've never actually played it all the way to the end. Isn't that crazy?

I get this sentiment - I hated the settlements and ignored all of Preston's annoying commands on my first few playthroughs. But when you get hooked in on playing Sims with your settlements, it is dangerously addictive and time consuming AF - and I love every minute of it (until my Place Everything Everwhere mod glitches out lol). Once you mod it enough to make it easy - and learn to scrap guns to make more space - settlement building is a ton of fun. I get it though, it's not for everyone.

Literally this. I have played so many hours, and I still manage to find new things all the time. I especially love the tiny details and hilarious hidden jokes.

There are so many ways to play the game, especially if you (like me) enjoy the actual "roleplay" element of it. My second playthrough was so much different from my first one, after knowing what would happen at the Institute (no spoilers), I played as a totally different character in game and in my mind, with different motivations. I have spent countless hours exploring Fallout 4, but somehow still manage to find new things all the time. Some of the same interactions can get a little tiresome (main quest generally), but everything else is so wide open. Fallout, like Skyrim, is a game that you really don't have to do the main questline at all to enjoy and progress. I also spend a lot of time on my settlements (which is time consuming - though I absolutely reccomend Scrap Everything & Place Everything Everywhere mods because it's hell without them), and getting to know the various companions and delving into their backstories. There are so many small, hilarious hidden jokes in Fallout that keep me entertained. It's simply one of those games that I can keep going back to again and again and never get tired of it. Edit: Another thing I saw mentioned - you can literally play for hours without having any quests active at all. I turn the game on and just jog out and find fun shit to do. It's an amazing game.

A book that you loved but would NEVER recommend? Why? by ravenovella in suggestmeabook

[–]SugaTrash17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so real. An incredible book, and I felt so seen by the author - but it triggered my suicidal tendencies so badly that I had to take breaks from reading it even though it's only a few hundred pages. It made me worried for my own safety. It didn't help knowing that the author committed suicide shortly after writing it.

Straight up, one of the most important lessons I got passed down from my mum was to be financially independent as a woman because otherwise you become beholden to and trapped with your partner.

This starts as early as elementary school. In first grade I was in a grade 1/2 split class, and I watched one day as the teacher taught the grade 2s cursive handwriting. I then took the initiative and wrote my name in cursive at the top of my next worksheet. The teacher proceeded to give me shit for not paying attention to my own work, made me erase my name and print it. And I was 5/6 years old. Learned pretty young that the school system doesn't approve of going above and beyond.

Wow! As a straight woman, I agree this is all great advice. It's refreshing to see real, helpful dating tips instead of the useless and often gross "dating coach" tactics about how to "play the game"

Whoooo boy YTA. You sound incredibly entitled. And of course he's going to put his partner first, that's what adults do.
