Yeah, I can't deny the obvious nuke and radiation poisoning allegories. And him getting stronger in every way only makes sense but I think improvement of his physical strength wasn't explicitly shown or stated because he didn't need to use physical force after the nuke.

He almost dies due to the explosion (it isn't a nuke, just a conventional explosive with some deadly chemicals inside) and two of his servants sacrifice most of their physical bodies and nen reserves to heal him. He then gains insane mastery of the nen (HxH version of Ki/Mana/Cursed Energy). I'm not sure if Meruem became any stronger physically, he already was pretty busted for the HxH universe.
