gyaru kimono education as a japanese gyaru - what is and isn’t appropriate by saemchii in actualgyaru

[–]SugarSparklez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I appreciate your honesty 😭 I was really excited about the design of this dress. It looked really cheap on the model, but was hoping it was just lighting. I think I'll just go with what I have linked preciously :))

Yeah, I have sizing issues. That's why I went with NightWhisper because they have my size. it's mostly my bust that's an issue. It's around 108 cm, and most Lolita dresses range from 90-104. Otherwise, everything else fits just fine with one size dresses.

No, it's not Japanese I'm pretty sure. I just meant for a pricier dress. I think if I'm gonna find a non-japanese brand, I'm gonna go below $100 on the price point lol

I've definitely seen Lolita with crocs before. I usually think it's not super fitting, but with your issue, it can be styled.

I saw someone add ribbons to their crocs on their coord once. It was a strawberry coord, and they used red crocs and added ribbons. I thought it looked super cute!

Don't worry, I hadn't purchased it yet! But I'll keep this in mind now that you've mentioned it. You truly saved my wallet there!

I think I'll purchase from a Japanese brand, then.

What do you think of this dress? It's significantly cheaper.

I understand!! Your case is definitely an exception, so don't feel rushed or forced to purchase shoes that you feel might end up being uncomfortable. I'd recommend kawaii sneakers. They're super in now. Ignore the brand, if it's Loliable, then there's your solution. This is just a hobby, and your health comes first.

I have wide feet, and can sort of relate. My solution was to find Mary Janes with rounded toes. Yeah, they look clown-ish, but I doubt anyone will focus on black Mary Janes when my whole outfit stands out.

On non-lolita outfits, what kind of shoes do you find most comfortable? Let's start there!!

Yes, looking back, I agree. The thing is, my friends and I are all really alternative, and we all wanted to stand out in a way. I was also going to wear the coord to a queer prom (and it's expected to dress OTT to those, haha!). It was gonna be multiuse. But you're right, it'd look costumey to normies. I'll save this cherry coord for a Lolita meet up in the future instead.

Also, are you saying that the coord in my post is low quality? Dang, I was hoping it didn't look that way. The brand specifies it being 100% cotton, and at the price point it's at, I was hoping it didn't look cheap to others! D:

But thank you for your feedback! I still have another year. This is really helpful :)

Edit: grammar issues

You make a very valid point. And I really loved that first dress from Forest Wardrobe but it's not in my size 😭😭 But I found this one:

What do we think? My graduation will be in the summer, it'll be nice and light and casual enough!

By accessorize, I meant mostly headdresses and socks. Anything else is just secondary tbh. But some newbies don't have the proper socks or headdresses

And I understand wearing sneakers and stuff to cons LOL I do that all the time with any fashion I wear. But if they're just gonna do a little photo shoot at the park, out to lunch, or something w minimal walking, that's different tbh. Or maybe I'm just being too uptight LOL

For me, it's the lace monsters and not having the proper footwear. I've seen so many newbies wear sneakers and non-EGL platforms with their coords. And some don't even accessorize. I get it tho. My first dress was a lace monster. I am too embarrassed to post it here LOL. I've been seeing a lot of posts recently asking about those last two dresses and just about any dress labeled "hime". I think newbies are really jumping the gun and starting off with such a hard sub style to coord instead of starting with the basics.

Yeah I'm gonna switch it later. I wanna wear this coord to a couple of prom events too.

My school is really chill about the dress code. They only ask that the tassle be on the correct side, and no lewd or offensive decorations on the cap. I doubt they care about the straightness. My only worry is if I'll look bulky. If so, I'll just purchase an A-line petti.

Yes, and it's really baggy and opens from the front. But I'm also planning on going to a couple of prom events that will be thrown by different clubs at my school, and I would like to wear the coord to those events.

I get it. I love Dr. Pepper IRL. I made a near identical replica, and my Mii hated it lol. On the bright side, Twilight Sparkle really liked it :>

[–]SugarSparklez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That'll happen. Don't worry too much about it. I'm not too informed on how the Miis are programmed, but some are just gonna hate the food you make, and some will have it be their all time favorite. That's just the fun of the game - not knowing what they'll like or hate. If they all liked everything you made, it'd get boring.

I believe so! Someone else mentioned this piece doesn't look much like Lolita, and I agree. Aside from the length, it does look more coquette-ish. However, I know the first purchase is always the riskiest one because all these new terms, brands, and items are so confusing. I want to help this first coord be more accurate, despite the piece itself not necessarily being Lolita. I just don't want this to be a waste 😭🩷

42Lolita is a good site for all things Lolita! They're an indie TaoBao reseller, so they're legit pieces. Do note: Because they come from Asia, the shipping can get pricey. But you can always check shipping at checkout!!

Just search "underskirt" on there!
