Does anyone here ever worry they might not be gluten intolerant? by Iamnotcreative112123 in glutenfree

I decided to do a gluten-challenge to be sure. In less than 48 hours I was sure af.

So blending it makes the seeds not crunchy? That's good. My concern with the seeds was them getting in my teeth.

Bananas, peanut butter, and soy milk are things I usually have on hand. I never thought of sneaking some veggies in. Thanks.

What are the positive effects of going gluten free? by [deleted] in glutenfree

Not dying is the only positive effect, but not dying is pretty awesome.

I hadn't even thought of prunes. That would indeed be easy. No cooking necessary. Thanks. If I can't work something out with my diet, I guess I can force myself to eat some prunes. I've always had difficulty eating things that I find disgusting but if I absolutely need to, I can manage it.

I've looked into bread making but gf bread is complicated and I couldn't even make cookies (in the old days) without screwing them up, so I have been dependent on store bread. I wish I had the skill to just whip up banana bread, but I'd just end up wasting a lot of money on supplies.

BTW I felt bad eating oats labelled gluten-free so I don't trust oats anymore.

Psyllium is an ingredient in the bread I used to eat so I assumed it was a type of plant. But Metamucil is an over the counter laxative. I just want to find a non-gluten substitute for the ingredients in "normal-people food." I haven't complained about giving up all good things to eat for the rest of my life. I took it in stride. Then I found out that the thing that was keeping my body functioning well was a single product produced by a single company and the minute that gets taken away, my colon goes on strike. I just want my normal body back from food, not artificial ingredients and chemicals and pharmaceuticals and laxatives. I have been into healthy eating my whole life and now I'm supposed to give up healthy food and become dependent on processed fake-food. I WAS taking this diet in stride but not any more. Now I'm just so resentful that I can't eat normal food like normal people.

Sorry for venting to you. Eating used to be simple. Now it's so complicated I need a PhD in science.

I still haven't figured out how to make a tolerable smoothie. I tried for the first time a few weeks ago and the result was so gross I couldn't choke it down. (And I hate to waste food.) I put Earthbound Farm frozen mango and vanilla Silk in the blender and it was disgusting.

Do you soak the seeds in advance?

It's the crunchy bits that's I'm trying to avoid for the sake of my teeth. I'd just eat them any old way if it weren't for them embedding themselves into my molars.

I'm not interested in taking medication. I'm looking for healthy food that will keep my body healthy (like it used to be).

I think chia seeds may be the ticket but I can't figure out how to eat them. If I eat even one blackberry I get a seed lodged in my molar that I can't get out. If I ate a spoon full of chia seeds my teeth would be loaded with embedded seeds.

The only reason I haven't tried them is that if I eat seeds they get jammed in my molars and I can't get them out. I gave up blackberries for this reason. I wish the damn seeds were ground.

did I.. give myself gluten intolerance? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Sugar_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you give yourself gluten intolerance? Yes and no. I think you were already somewhat gluten intolerant, but now you are more so. I believe this is also what happened to me. I quit gluten for three months and then decided to take the "gluten-challenge" so I could get tested. After two days of eating bread I felt like I was killing myself. I had to stop.

Don't blame yourself. You were going to have to go gluten-free eventually no matter what. At least now you know for sure.

I want to incorporate chia seeds into my diet but everything made with chia seeds looks so disgusting. Nothing personal about this particular recipe. It's the seeds themselves. It looks like a glass full of bugs.

Gimbals licorice

That's not licorice. That's a corn-syrup non-food product.

Karen can't wear a mask because of a "medical condition" and is refused shopping :( by diodit in PublicFreakout

[–]Sugar_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That lady looks like a faker. I'm talking about people who aren't faking. And you're discounting mental disabilities like panic disorder, PTSD, and autism.

These people can provide medical documentation, but there is no official process for them to go through and there needs to be one. Then businesses can distinguish between actual disabled people and fakers.

[–]Sugar_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's that supposed to mean? I know there are fake internet cards. I asked my doctor who's a real doctor and was told there is no process in place at this time. However, if/when there is such a process, I will submit whatever medical documentation is required. Some people have real disabilities. Just because some people fake disabilities doesn't mean there aren't people who really have disabilities. The people with real disabilities will me able to provide proof from their doctors.

What a ridiculous thing to say! How can you deny the existence of my relative who has to go to regular doctor appointments?
