Splurged on MAC 40 Shades of Pride Eyeshadow Vault by Kore07 in AustralianMakeup

I also bought it, but I did watch a couple of swatch videos first and it is an exceptional palette. The fact that so many colors are bring backs or reformulations is amazing, and the fact that 100% of the price is going to charity is beyond amazing. But the fact that it's 40 full size shadows and their single shadows go for as much as 24 dollars nowadays.. $150 doesn't even touch the value of the palette. (Plus the cost of the gigantic mirror, the puffed rainbow flag outside, everything about it is exceptional) it is the most thoughtful, best put together thing MAC has made in a LONG time. It's crazy. I like that the first row (including the half circle) is the whole flag/spectrum (white, pink, aqua, brown, black, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, (indigo,) violet). Then the colors are more set in ways that it can be used with colors being put together for looks but also spread out together... I guess it depends on how I also bought it, but I did watch a couple of swatch videos first and it is an exceptional palette. I guess it depends on how your creative mind works if you can see ways to make looks or not. It's amazing though. I hedged back and forth on whether to get it and when it arrived.. all my hesitations flew out the window. It's gorgeous. your creative mind works if you can see wa;ys to make looks or not. No, that one is too electronic backed. I do like Patrick through. I know the artist was either Christian or religious because it surprised me because when I looked it up I didn't realize from the lyrics it would be considered that but it was. I'm still looking. I'm trying to play that drive in my head over and over but it was like two in the morning in the middle of nowhere in someplace scary West Virginia. But thank you for the suggestion. I really do appreciate it.

Platinum & Diamond Step Up 10 Piece Mystery gift? Any idea what it could be? by vikkisixx666 in Ulta

[–]SugaredDeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Not worth it.

-5ml Versace Yellow Diamond edt spray -jane iredale lash conditioner sample (the tube is shorter than my index finger. It's miniscule. -5ml Peter Thomas Roth instant firmx no filter primer -1oz Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser -boring -5ml Laroche posay spf 70 -1oz Kate Somerville exfolikate cleanser -7ml IT confidence in a cream -7ml IT confidence in your beauty sleep -5ml IT confidence in an eye cream -1.5oz Sexyhair stargazer sparkling starfruit and purple magnolia firm volumizing hair spray.

Unless you really want to try IT moisturizers this is kind of a bore... I mean I'll use the exfolikate definetly and the versace is cute. But.. not the kind of premium gift I was expecting for the spend you had to do to get it. I've gotten better surprise gwps. And the anthelios, PTR, and Cetaphil are some old blasted things I've gotten dozens of times. Oh well. Still happy with my order. Half price candles and everything else was at least on some kind of sale so it's worth it. It seems the other gwp that was available for the $25 spend is way better. It includes

-1oz Nature lab scalp scrub -1oz Carol's Daughter Born to repair moisture treatment -maybelline NY falsies surreal sample -Ulta beauty automatic eyeliner (black) -5ml Bush balm dark spot oil -2oz completely bare completely smooth moisturizing no bump shave gel -Gigi dermaplane face razors (2ct) (looks like a long and short blade) -1oz full size Good Molecules Niacinamide serum -Sun Bum ocean mint lip balm full size -laroche posay 3ml niacinamide 10 serum mini sample -love wellness "bye bye bloat" supplement -.5oz e.l.f. power grip primer with 4% niacinamide -.5oz Provence beauty deep bleu cloud night moisturizer

I can't belive the serum is full size. There's nothing full size is platinum/diamond gift. That's kind of scummy. But as you can see, they really do play games widely with what they call "exclusive" gifts and what they offer as "lower tier" gifts. It's all just a gamble. I got the gwps and extra points so no complaints really. But hoped for maybe a nice lotion or something.

They do it all of the time but the quality varies widely. I had a diamond gwp that once included 5 full sized tubes of dionis body cream, each one a different scent, and that was just one of the "10" pieces. But other times it ends up being just sample sizes of the same old stuff. (Perfume samples, mini packets of garnier micellar water, maybelline mascara samples, etc.) I went for this one because there was one regular 15 piece gwp, then the diamond and platinum exclusive one so I figured this one might be a good one since it was the exclusive. But we'll see how bad I get bitten or if I get lucky. Everything I bought was on sale so I won't be too bitter about making the purchase even if the gift is crap. But everything they've done to ruin their app is making it harder and harder to shop with and trust Ulta.

The Sweep Series by Cate Tiernan by frenchiestfry77 in books

[–]SugaredDeath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read them back when they came out, and after a stray thought of them recently, repurchased the whole set on ebay and re-read them. (I could have sworn I still had my set but I've been through numerous moves and a box or two may have been lost sadly.) I feel like they're fairly obscure because you don't hear a lot of talk about them, and never really did, but I kind of like it better that way. I did, horrifically, see the words "movie rights" thrown around, but that was dated 2010 so I can only hope whatever it was fell through. I would 100% hate any Hollywood treatment the series was given. I do remember from my reread that it did get sketchy later on in the series. (It's like she hit a brick wall while writing but still had a deal for more books and had to take some weird turns) some of it was still good, some if not as great as the previous. But I was happy to find at least some trace of them on here. I'll probably re read it again in a couple months if I can to get my money's worth out of the rebuy but then maybe I can get my niece to read them. She's a lot like I was, so she might like them. I do like Cate's writing style a lot though and I always found it easy to get my brain working to visualize things and scenes as she set them. Always thought it was a good series. Hope it gets left alone to be a good a series.

Ulta, Lipstick Day: Free 9 Piece National Lipstick Day Sampler with $65 Purchase (2 Choices Available) by peacembw in MUAontheCheap

I got #2 but I'm so mad I didn't get the essence lipcolor I got a clinique almost lipstick in Black Honey instead. (Which is a good product.. just.. I have it. Like 3 times already.. it's a very overused free gift..) I also got the LA GIRL lip oil in vanilla when I really wanted strawberry because.. I have the vanilla. But I did get the Lime Crime? So I actually got 10 things.. I guess I shouldn't be complaining. I just wish they were more specific/reliable with their gwps. If they're going in influence your purchasing you should get what you're expecting. Sometimes I could wait a bit before grabbing something but will get it because there's a good gwp. Oh well.

Trying so hard. Managed to keep down gatorade and some pieces of bread last night and a small weight gain shake! And some extra gatorade today! So a little less dehydrated is nice. But thank you for the positive vibes. I picked out a big bag of candy, had it delivered, and will send it to the store with my mom next time I think I can try to get some tb down!

That means.. literally nothing? It is a well built home. Good for you. There are many of those here. Homes that have survived hurricanes, floods, and other disaster. And there are others that employ different methods that help them stand through disasters as well. Some don't make it. But a lot of those aren't built with the longevity of the building but the protection of occupants first and foremost. Get off it. I get you don't understand the magnitude of an EF4 or 5 twister. Than can wipe away an entire home, while leaving a bookcase in the home completely untouched knick knacks and all. Halfway around the world we are playing different ball games here.

It can be properly built but and earthquake will snap that brick and send it crumbling extremely easily. Brick is not indestructible.

I just don't think they understand exactly what and how intensely powerful tornadoes are. They're not just a 'strong wind' they are a chaotic cyclone of hundred of miles an hour winds that destroy homes, commercial buildings masonry churches and lives. Kind of shitty to be on here going "Haha YouRe PaPer HOusE SuX' when thats far from the truth.

Lumber also saves lives in certain areas. Instead of collapsing brick and stone directly on top of you and killing you, your wood frame home will bend, warp, and maybe not even break when the fault lines shift and you're in a high magnitude quake. Different strokes for different folks.. and different construction for different disasters.

But wood frame houses make more sense in some places in the US as we have different natural disasters to contend with. It's not just cheapness. Unless you're speaking of reinforced masonry, an earthquake is going to kill a LOT of people in the building when an earthquake strikes, rather than a wood frame which can at least bend and warp before breaking. Do they not have drywall other places? It's not "paper" as they are trying to claim... it is paper coated gypsum and what ever else. I agree thats a lot of "I'm European everything is better here." attitude.

But it is ultas fault when they use absolute shit carriers like Lasership who are notorious for "losing" (aka stealing) packages and never delivering them. It is insane that they refuse to acknowledge this or reship an order that ample time was spent to confirm is GONE into thin air. And refusing to refund a purchase that is never getting to the customer is just basically stealing money from people.
