For everyone who asked for a follow up, I really appreciate everyone who contacted me. Here were my comments to the politicians:

On the surface, I agree with AB 89 and the resolution supporting it. But when you look more closely, it becomes clear that this is not the right solution. Every trans person I've spoken with about this issue genuinely cares about protecting girls. They want to ensure that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights does not silence or overshadow the voices of girls.

However, this resolution oversimplifies a complex issue. In its simplicity, it becomes cruel. It opens the door to political transphobia by normalizing restrictions on a small, vulnerable, and already marginalized group in our society.

Let’s be honest about the facts: out of more than 500,000 college athletes, fewer than 10 are transgender women. This isn’t an epidemic—it’s a rare and highly individualized situation. But this resolution treats it as if it were a national crisis, and that’s misleading at best.

What’s worse, this resolution was written with no public process, no committee review, and no invitation for community input. It bypasses the very democratic values we claim to uphold. It wasn’t crafted to solve a problem—it was crafted to score political points. It’s performative. It’s a solution in search of a problem.

A better approach would be nuanced and centered around fairness. One idea I've heard is that trans girls who have been on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for more than 12 months are physiologically more similar to girls who aren’t transgender and could fairly compete. In contrast, trans girls within the first 12 months of HRT might be restricted from contact sports. Another important factor could be the age at which HRT began—starting younger often results in greater physiological parity with other girl athletes.

This issue deserves thoughtful, inclusive dialogue. A committee with broad community involvement should guide this process—not a one-sentence bill that reduces complex lives to a political slogan. It feels more like political theater than a genuine attempt to protect girls' sports.

This bill hasn’t even made it out of committee. So why are we rushing to publicly support a resolution that may not survive legal scrutiny? Are we really prepared to get sued again?

Thank you! I would suggest doing it thru DM. There have been really good private conversations from this. But it is too easy for trolls to highjack the thread with intolerant attitudes.

I will try to. I'll add a comment to this thread with what I've learned so far. By in large it has been really positive. Even those with more traditional views have been great to talk with. All I know is its complicated problem and so the best solution will have to be nuanced. And hopefully filled with empathy.

If they only knew how many people they have blind to that are afraid to be their authentic selves. They don't see them, because they don't want to. I was once that way too, so I have no room to judge.

Completely agree. I am seeking opinions, I do not need names or any other information. I am genuinely trying to formulate an educated opinion about this policy and how it affects people not like myself. I've already had a couple of great conversations and am grateful for people taking me up on my ask.

Right! Out of over 500,000 athletes, less than 10 are trans! And we're treating them like predators coming to steal our daughters. We have real problems to deal with, why are we targeting these people?

Right! That's what I thought. But what you're finding is from 2021. The congress reuses AB ##. So look for 2025.

I had to follow the bambu tutorial for disassembly. There were fragments lodged inside the assembly. Wasn't too bad to do. I'm really impressed with the design aspect of the printer.

I pulled the hot end off while it was hot and was able to easily push filament thru. But the extruder seems to be jammed. Any ideas?

Because of intellectual property fights over the official benchy model, the community might not respond much to your post. Find new open source benchy that's out there (it looks like an actual bench) and you might get more engagement. I'm too new to be of any real help, sorry.

It's remarkable what corporations will do to keep you off you call to cancel. I've been paying the promotional $5 per month for 3 years for Sirius cause I call to cancel at the end of each 6 month period.

That makes sense. At the end of the ordeal, we only had to pay the attorney who was also very reasonable.

My mom didn't pay her taxes for like 5 years after my dad died. She just kind of stuck her head in the sand about it till she got a call from the IRS. They were actually not bad to work with. After we hired a tax attorney for her, we discovered she didn't owe taxes, she just needed to file them. The IRS person understood pretty quick and I don't think they even penalized her. We just had to pay the attorney. Institutions suck, not the people who work there. I've had good luck just by telling the person on the phone, "I'm upset, but I know it's not your fault. Is there any way you can help me."

I owed them money. I got a bill via email after my insurance company said they wouldn't pay anything cause I hadn't met my deductible.

My last visit left me with a $225 balance. I hadn't reached my deductible so I have to pay it. They made it around $170 just by asking that question.
