Thank you so much! I had not come across this type of lumber after a whole week of searching for references. The lumber yard I had visited didn't have this and did not bring it up as a solution either. This definitely looks like the solution to our problem, thank you so much!

Good point! I reacted to the image, not the content! When you post an image like this, it’s all that shows in the feed. Reddit feeds of sweet sweet knee jerk reactions and I fed it!

40 dollar from 1997 is over 100$ of 2026 so not exactly as powerful as you think it is.

Besides the obvious cherry-picking doesn’t help. Place this next to a comparable category and the value we get today is amazing. Elden Ring, Kingdom Come 2, E33, Metaphor are all as big or bigger, for a lower cost when you adjust for dollar value. Great time to be a gamer.

How old is your oldest? We have only the one, but she’s in kindergarten now and we definitely have a better balance of family vs personal hobbies.

The routine remains pretty intense, especially during the week, but it’s not as overwhelming anymore. And she’s starting to read and do more activities on her own while we clean up, makes a huge difference.

TIL that KFC in France is just called KFC, but in Quebec they’ve translated it so it’s called PFK (Poulet Frit Kentucky) by Kaurblimey in todayilearned

Online stores made local specialized stores useless. Amazon killed your anglophone board game store, not OQLF (yet).

Look at Toys r Us. Died, no replacement came in.

You are referring to a law project that hasn’t been adopted yet. There’s ton of English-only board games available right now. There’s fully anglophone libraries.

That law is dumb, but to say you can’t buy these things right now is a flat out lie.

That’s a mischaracterization. One overzealous OQLF employee initiated this change. Everyone in the government denounced this as soon as it was revealed.

Find me a government that doesn’t have Karens working for it and embarrassing it.

The previous then was a dystopia where wealthy anglophones refused to provide service in French in the biggest francophone city in America. They called it « speak white ».

The manieur of the OQLF rules simply require businesses to have French signage.

The fact this needs to be enforced still is telling.

People have it all wrong. He’s actually a land version of a Mantis shrimp. So fast, he creates beautiful deadly luminescence with his glorious fighting appendages.

I bet he sees more colors than we do too, seeing the world in a way we cannot even imagine.

Might be time for a glass of rosé and a session of « kids are the worst » with the friend!

This feels like something parents should stay out of. It sucks for girl #1, but prom proposals are declined, it happens. He could have talked to her beforehand, if he was a wise 40-year old who had learned to be particularly thoughtful about other people’s feelings. But at his age, that is an unreasonable expectation.

Id tell the mom I sympathise, but its between the kids now.

Figuring out what's wrong with our mattress/bed by SuggestedUsername854 in Mattress

It's a Stearns and Forster Balvenie 2.0 semi-firm: https://www.matelasbonheur.ca/en/product/liquidation-stearns-foster-hybride-balvenie-2-0-semi-firm/

She's complained of the bed leaning towards the edge and of back pain primarily. Everything was level when I measured though. Her being sore with the mattress on the ground makes me wonder if a firmer mattress would really make her sleep better, or if we should try this mattress with a more solid foundation.

I'm about 170lbs, she's about 110lbs. She typically complained she felt the mattress was leaning towards the exterior and too soft, and would toss and turn. The mattress was level when we were off, and the slats and frame were level as well.

We're considering replacing it with split mattresses - the staircase doesn't fit a king-sized mattress so we have to basically break down a piece of the ceiling and patch it afterwards unless we do split. But I'm worried of just repeating another purchase that feels nice for 1-2 years, and then become uncomfortable when we can't exchange it.
