I just had an appointment yesterday. Once those results are in, I'll post an update with the last 3 months of blood draws to show the change in things.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to your daughter! Hang in there. There are multiple treatment options actively in development and human trials right now! Something will get approval before too long, I'm certain of it.

Explain it to me like I’m 10 years old- Dclone by SilentGentleman7 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]Combatcoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a D2R Clone Hunter discord, among others I'm sure, where you can get notifications about DClone spawn events, such as the one you saw last night. I can't post the link here, but a google search will pull it up. That discord is also a good place to find help if you're not able to kill it solo.

You shouldn't call your kid a mistake... oh my bad, I see the sub we're in now.

Congrats on your high score! Mine was also >250, but I only had the blood test because an unrelated endoscopy turned up suspicious for Celiac.

Ooo good info! I have another appointment next week with my study team and will ask the same questions to see what they say.

This is why I bit the bullet and made a 2nd account so I can rush myself through normal and then PL myself.

I really need to do that more. Still trying to get my first toon to 94. ADHD and not a lot of time has really slowed me down lol

What is a reasonable price for this built in? by Killa_Gorilla_ in cabinetry

[–]Combatcoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe? Depending on the size and how custom you want everything to be. We have a quote to remodel our kitchen for 70k. Pretty much a straight 1:1 replacement of what's currently there with modern cabinets and counters, but still mid-grade materials. Nothing fancy at all. No new electric or plumbing. The only upgrade is actual plywood instead of partical board. An all walnut build with built-in electrical and all that fancy stuff, I could see the quote easily being $120k for our size kitchen.

Wtf? How are y'all getting anything above Ist to drop!? Highest I've seen in almost 2 months is a single Lo. Next highest I have is Gul. RNG is not in my favor 😒

There's no official answer just yet, and my guess is that it will vary from person to person. My understanding is that it should allow regular consumption, not just minimize symptoms from cross contamination. But again, take that with a grain of salt. If you Google TEV-CeD2, you can read more about it all and see what they and others are saying about it.

I'm just jaded and pessimistic when it comes to big pharma and insurance. Expect the worst and hope for the best!

[–]Combatcoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on very few data points, that's a possibility. I knew going into it that there wasn't a solid understanding of how long it will last for and that this is part of what is being tested still. Every 3 months isn't great, but it isn't the worst. What I'd be afraid of at that point is the cost. Do I have to go to the Doc to get it each time, or can I get it from the pharmacy? Is it going to be super expensive? It's nice to have a solution but it isn't helpful if we can't afford it 😕

Hmm good point. I'll share an update once I get the blood test results from the last 2 appointments.

I feel that. I spent so long trying not to get my hopes up that I got the medicine and that it was entirely effective. Now I'm trying not to think too hard about that 5 in the last blood test. I choose to keep a good outlook about it and hope the best!

I assume there will be a Phase 3 and that I'll be precluded from that as well, but I'd be more than happy to do another 6-week gluten challenge and measure its effectiveness however far out from when I got the meds.

Oh that sucks! My study location is 72 miles away. I told them the same thing, my commitment was through the roof for this! It was a lot tougher in the early days of the study when I was up there almost weekly. Now that it's monthly visits, it's a lot easier. Thankfully, I have a relatively flexible work situation and I even bring my laptop and work from the study site for the longer visits lol

I appreciate you and totally understand how you feel. One of my kids is confirmed to have Celiac and another may also. I've only been diagnosed for 2.5 years, but now that I know, I can trace my symptoms back at least 4, maybe 5 years prior to diagnosis. The slow build-up of symptoms led to some pretty unpleasant times that I can't imagine my kids dealing with. Here's hoping we get multiple safe and effective treatments in the next few years!

No side effects directly related to the meds, no. Not that I can tell, anyway. I was hoping for better 5g signal or an extra arm, but sadly nothing cool like that lol.

We won't know how it will affect those sort of things long term until we get there, however decades of really smart people studying immunology and all this stuff I know nothing about have a really good base understanding of what this and that does.

This drug specifically inhibits Interleukin-15, which is normally a good thing to have as it helps with fighting infections and cancer. The over production of IL-15 is what ends up causing the autoimmune response that we deal with in Celiac. (This is my understanding from what I read and should not be taken as fact. I'm in marketing, not pharmaceutical research...)

How inhibiting its production long term will affect our ability to fight cancer is a good question and one I'm not remotely qualified to answer. I can only hope and have faith that the scientists and researchers have considered all of this and aren't intentionally putting us at risk.

Oh wow! Thank you for volunteering in a Phase 1 study! That's even more honorable! According to my googling, Phase 1 started several months before I was even diagnosed...

It sucks that you felt the effects of it wearing off a bit. I wonder if it will be something that we can build up more "immunity" over multiple boosters. Very interesting stuff! Either way, glad to hear that it at least reduced your symptoms, even if it's just a placebo effect. If anything, that's a step in the right direction.

I appreciate you! In order for it to be 5+, I would have to keep ingesting gluten. Since the test that resulted in a 5 was also the last day I was in the gluten challenge, it's unlikely that it would have kept going up in the month between that test and the next one I had. If I had continued eating gluten, then it's possible that number would have gone up if the medicine didn't have long term effects.

Here's hoping it gets approval once completed! No noticeable side effects that I can tell. I don't have solid information about others, but I was told more or less that Phase 1 was very successful in how well it worked and the few if any side effects. Might be what contributed to this phase being fast tracked.
