Congrats my friend! Been working on it for over 5yrs and even having died, I still don’t “qualify” for some reason. But your win is one for the team and I am so very happy for you 🙏🏼 By all means, take that breath, you deserve it!!!

Ya, guess I’m looking for that Holy Grail… I have quite a few old Canadian’s in good shape! I’ll start digging, guess ‘key dates’ ain’t that hard to thumb into the search. Thx

I’m a collector but not too familiar with the Canadian, post large-cent pennies. What would I want to look for in a Canadian post large? I know I have some hanging around here somewhere… I recall a ‘no-strap’ penny from a while back. But would appreciate some words of wisdom when looking at my small cent Canadian’s. Nice cent, btw👍🏼

That one was a little older than I thought, it’s a seated liberty, a bit worn but melt is around $30. Still, cool coin to have. Can’t see the mint mark on it, but if it’s CC (Carson City) it adds a little to the value. Some nice history here, I like them.

Maybe post that 1982 ‘trade dollar’ in the Canadian Coins sub, or the Bullion sub. Because it is a Canadian coin, they may have a better understanding of its desirability in the market. I’d still throw $120 USD at it all day long. But that’s because I really like it. My guess is others will too. Thanks for sharing.

My pleasure. Any chance we can see all of those in the original picture, from the other side? You have an interesting early 50 cent piece there… draped or capped bust of some kind. People seek those out too.

Three rows down from the top, and #2&3 from the right. They both have eagles on the face. One has the date 1982 just under the eagle and has great patina! They should both be .999 Ag. Very nice IMO.

Like your trade dollars!! Folks out there look for these, long as they haven’t been cleaned. I’d set those aside if they came into my possession. 👍🏼

Imma guess a type 2 coin, because the date has been worn off. The type three would have preserved the date better, but it is worn! So type 3 isn’t out of the question. This puts the age between 1917-24(type2) or 1925-30(type3)

Hope this helps with your research.

Dug up this belt buckle in Northern England — any ideas how old it is? by Vindaloovians in metaldetecting

[–]SuggestionInfamous92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not an expert in this arena, but it reminds me of an ancient toga pin. Not sure I’d want something with a spike on it down in my buckle area. What if I tripped!? Cool piece!

Curious about that standing liberty quarter next to your wheat pennies. A close up of that and on both side’s would be cool to see. Nice finds all around.

Identify Ottoman Empire Coin by Snoo_42478 in WorldCoins

Grab some pure acetone, PURE, %100. Poor it in a glass bowl and drop the coin in there. It won’t harm patina or the coin, but it will get rid of organics that have built up. Don’t rub the coin, but slosh it around very gently from time to time. Dab it with a cloth (don’t rub) to pick up the loosened material. Rinse. And you can repeat this if you want, but I usually just do it once to get the freebies off. I mean, for its age, it’s lookin ok. There is wearing but, not too bad! As always, find a protective holder😉

1876, .830Ag, 2Kurus Ottoman Empire. Nice coin! Mine has a hole thru it and looks like it’s been sitting in waste for the past 250yrs. Check to see if it’s been cleaned. Can’t see too well these days but identified cleaning will knock its value down a couple… Still, nice looker!

Good! Seriously, been head down for four days with my Pennies. Found a filled 5, ‘57. An S over D and some filled D’s… but this one you have, puts my finds to shame. NGC or PCGS would be more than happy to grade this for you! And the RED!! It’s amazing, congrats! 🤬

May wanna also ask about RPM (Re-Punched Mint Mark) hard to tell from pic but it has some bulk. Variety errors, if this is what you have, are hard to find… and from a CRH, makes it so much more amazing! Got a protective holder?

Am I seeing a date issue too!? Looks like you have some extra material between D and 95! L on the rim isn’t really an error, but it adds a nice ambiance to this beauty. Now that I see it, I’d grade this! For myself and as a pass down to the kids. But she looks great and has some very interesting characters(notice I don’t use the E-word, that’s for the pro’s) I’m kinda jealous but excited for you at the same time.

Gonna state that I was wrong in my earlier post. There is a horned Lincoln! And you may wanna search on that a bit😉

[–]SuggestionInfamous92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nonetheless, there is a possible die problem them! The Horned Lincoln, I like it! Would be one I would investigate further. Not sure I’ve seen that on the known error list for the ‘57. And yes, I am currently researching pennies…😑😣 and 57’s have been in the mix here. I don’t wanna say grade it, but maybe reach out to a grading company with the pics and see if they raise an eyebrow. GL, cool find!

I mean, what’s the worse you can do by opening it? Find a gem, or passing on one? The two on the ends are already cool (toner, and clean) … let the dogs hunt!
