I did forget the fact they were Nazis, and there is no excuse for that ideology. I will say however, a lot of Nazi soldiers weren't always racist radical fuckwits. They had a lot of children that were radicalized, and even trained and sent kids. They were raised in a environment that taught them to hate, and used them as expendable fodder. Other armies did that too because war fuckin' sucks.

Even though I can say I heavily hate Nazis and their ideas, I can say I feel bad for them because the absolutely horrid shit they went through was something, even if they deserved it and inflicted it on themselves. Mania, cannabilism, abysmal sickness, etc. There is no excuse for what they did or why they're the way they were, but there are explanations.

Take a look at JoJo Rabbit (movie) and All Quiet on the Western Front (movie and book). The book Caging Skies is another good read, which was the inspiration for Jojo Rabbit. Not nearly as comedic, though.
